Safelite AutoGlass Reviews

I was contacted by safelite after speaking with my insurance agent. I was informed that my insurance would not cover the glass replacement.

I spoke with several differnet representative from both PA and NJ on several different occasion. I informed them that my insurance won't cover any of the replacement cost and that I will be paying in full.

Each conversation (at least 3) I was quoted $160 out of pocket. I was very clear that my insurance wouldn't cover it. They still said $160. So you can imagine my shock when they tried to charge me over $300 after the window was installed.

It is illegal for them to do this, but it was their word against mine. I filed a complaint with their customer service and they said they didn't have any record stating the quote of $160. I now record all my business conversations in NJ.

In the end, I was charged $269. My receipt showed $250 including tax. What did the other $19 go to. Did the installer charge me for a tip???

Until this point I believed Safelite Auto Glass was a company that s...tands behind their word and was trustworthy. My mother contacted Safelite Auto Glass to have a windshield replaced. The technician came out on October 6, 2014 and replaced the windshield. The technician had to raise the hood on the vehicle (I am assuming for windshield repair purposes) and failed to close the hood properly. My grandfather sat outside and talked to the technician and witnessed him letting the hood up. A few minutes after the technician completed the job and left, my mother proceeded to drive the car. The hood, because it was not closed by the technician flew up, shattered the new windshield. Also as a result of the hood flying up, the hood is broken beyond repair and caused serious damage to the roof of the car. She immediately called the technician. He admitted to letting the hood up but refused to come back to the house. She later called the Safelite Auto Glass office to report what happened. Safelite Auto Glass said that the technician had reported what happened and that Safelite Auto Glass would take care of the damages. By the next day they scheduled a tow truck to come and get the car and provided her with a rental car.

Sounds good so far right.... Safelite Auto Glass went to check out the damages and told the repair shop, not my mother, that they weren't going to pay for anything but the towing charges. So it has been a week and my mother knows that they should be contacting her. She decides to call. Safelite Auto Glass starts to give her the run around. They pretend that they have to research the information. She calls the repair shop to see if they have heard anything and that is when she finds out Safelite has decided to go back on everything that the technician and the representative from Safelite Auto Glass that she has spoken to have told her.

The Safelite Auto Glass representatives are saying that they are not paying for the damages. They are telling her that they never said that they would cover the damages nor did the technician admit fault. They did say that they would replace the windshield. Well how can you replace a windshield if the roof of the car is bent in? Why would you pay set up towing and a rental car If the technician nor the representatives acknowledged fault or responsibility. This has been an awful week for my mother whom now has a car that is not drivable and has been taken advantage, mislead of and disrespected by the representatives of Safelite Auto Glass.
