Sears Home Improvement Reviews

claim On 9/22/2014 we purchased windows from Sears in good faith that the windows would be installed by a professional and that Paul P Kautzman and Bambi L Quinn would pay $12,289.55 with an initial payment of $3,686.86 and the final payment in the amount of $8,602.69. Sears was to furnish the materials and arrange for their installation by 4-6 weeks. Sears was to arrange a private contractor to come to our home and install the windows. On 9/22/2014 a contractor did show up and measured for the windows. Sears ordered the windows and on 10/25/2014 the contractor did show up at 11:00am to 7pm. Installing only 3 windows. On 10/26/2014 to 10/28/2014 the contractor did not show up and did not call. Finally the contractor did come to our house and worked from 1:00pm until 7:00pm on 10/29/2014 and 10/30/2014. During his installation he found that all the windows were in fact the wrong size.

We checked his work after he had gone and found that his work was unacceptable. When the old windows were taken out, they took out the entire window frame making the windows they were installing too small. They left the new windows in but it was left with big gaps around the frame. One window needed a towel around it to keep the freezing weather out. On 11/12/2014 a Sears employee did in fact come out to the house to observe the damage that was done to our house. He did not do anything to the windows as the were in such bad condition. On 11/18/2014, Brad Jensen from Sears, came to our house and re-measured the windows and took pictures of the damage. He arranged for another contractor to come to our house to reinstall the right windows, for 12/09/2014. This contractor did not show up and did not call. On 12/10/214 we called Sears and left a message for Brad Jensen at 8:15am. We did not get a return call, so we called again after 12pm and left another message. At 5:00pm Brad Jensen did return our call and promised the contractor would be at our house by 8am on 12/11/2014. The contractor did show up at 8:30am and again measured the windows. At 5:30pm Brad Jensen called to tell us that the right windows would be here in February of 2015. This upset us terribly as we were essentially heating much of the cold air around our house. On 12/15/2014, Brad called and said the windows will be here on January 8th and 9th 2015. On January 8th, 2015 Brad called to say the contractor would not be out that day. Finally on 1/09/2015, the windows and the contractor (1 person) came at 10:15am and left at 5:00pm The contractor showed up 1/10/2015 at 9:30am and stayed until 5pm again. We finally had the Windows finished on 1/15/2015. Brad Jensen then called to ask us how much we felt we still owed. After having our house destroyed and our lives disrupted for 2 ½ months we had gotten another contractor to come and clean our carpets, move furniture, hang plastic around the windows, put foam board over some of the worst damage to keep the cold out as much as possible, repair the damage from first contractor, paint the trim on the inside and out, and to repair the sheet rock around the windows caused by removing the old windows. On 3/27/2015 We received a call from Scott Shank, the District Sales Manager for Sears. He informed us we still owed $8,602.69 for the “work” they had done on our windows. We informed him we would not pay that amount, in fact not a another penny due to the problems we had endured during this 2 ½ month period. On 4/11/2015 we sent Sears home improvement an invoice copy of the repairs done on our house. On 4/29/2015 we received a collections notice from Sears. We again sent the invoice to Sears to inform them of the amount we had spent repairing their mess. Then on 5/6/2015, we got notice from our credit card that they had taken the $8,602.69 out of our card. Please help us. They should have criminal charges set against them.

We contracted with Sears Home Improvement to do a small kitchen renovation. They supplied cabinets, a custom job because our kitchen is odd shaped, but not difficult.

we have had nothing but problems. the initial measuring was poorly done so the cabinets did not reach the ceiling as contracted, 3 cabinets were the wrong size. We are more than a month in and still dealing with a non functional kitchen. Delay after delay, told that contractors would come but they did not show up so we were waiting home all day (time taken off work to do that thing) and just a totally bad experience.

Now we are about to leave on vacation, which we told them months ago, and still the kitchen is a total mess.

Sears Home Improvement are very unprofessional and have huge scheduling and communication problems. Buyer beware. They sub contract everything out and even if you get in writing (as we did) when installers are coming and what they are doing they still do not come and/or arrive without materials and tell us they are double booked somewhere else.

A terrible experience, I have been reduced to tears many nights because my 'dream kitchen' (which we saved years to afford) has become my "nightmare kitchen". Sears, shame on you.

Be very careful when dealing with sears home improvement services . make sure you get all prices for materials and labor in writing before signing any contracts.check all the prices for materials on the internet or home improvement stores.these people charged very exorbinate prices for every thing.example they charged over $900.00 for each toilet when they were approximately $200.00 to $250.00 at home depot.there were other charges even worse than that.
