Securus Payments Reviews

  • May 2, 2015

This is an ongoing problem with Securus Payments. Three years ago we entered a service agreement with them when they promised that they would give us the lowest rates in the industry. We were required to sign on three years with them and four years with First Data for the lease of a 200$ credit card swiper. After a while, they started adding more and more fees that we had no control over. We became very unhappy with their company practices and became very frustated with their customer service. I could not get anywhere with them, despite filing complaints even with the Better Business Bureau.

I talked to their representative and they told me that if we were to terminate early, they would assess our small business a fine and that we were responsible to buy out the lease for the credit card machine with First Data. This amounted to several thousand dollars. The Securus representative I spoke to on the phone told me that if we stayed with them for the entire three years, they would buy out the last year of leasing with First Data.

Since we could not afford the fines, we stayed with them for the three years. Near the end of the three years, I talked a Securus representative that we were terminating as planned and they instructed me to return the credit card swiper to First Data and I did so. I assumed that they were going to release us from the First Data agreement as promised. Unfortunately, I only wrote down the first name and the date of the person I talked to at Securus. I did not insist on them sending me any documentation.

The following month, we got billed again for the leasing charge from First Data. I called Securus again and they told me they had no documentation of this buy out plan. Furthermore, since I didn't have anything in writing, nothing will be honored and that I was still responsible for the lease charge.

It's hard to believe that Securus Payments is not out of corporate compliance with all of these shady, unethical practices. It's hard to believe they can keep repeatedly lying to customers and continue to be in business. I hope that this message gets to as many people as possible so that they can keep themselves out of this company's greedy grasp.

Securus signed our business up, but did not give us the terms of the contract.

They keep adding fees, but refuse to let us out of our contract--3 yrs.

There is an early termination fee of 495.00

They are very unprofessional on the phone.

How do we get a Class Action suit going?
