As an agent charged me $65 to start, $39 for a headset, $50 to get on their ridiculous phone system, $1000 for something. lousy leads 6 weeks old supposed to be one day old. go elsewhere.

As we all no losing a loved one can be very difficult and emotional time. I possessed a life ins. policy from my father after his passing with Senior Life Insurance Company, me being the beneficiary over the policy. I contacted Senior Life two days after his death, talked to Mary Ann Ext.1144 she informed me would be receiving some information in the mail after verification of the policy. 2 weeks later call back Mary Ann wasn't in office talked to another individual informed her my situation all over again, she apologize for the inconvenience and told me must have been a mistake that I would receive information in a few days. Another 2 weeks gone by asked for Mary Ann and to our surprise she's no longer employed, talked to a Jennifer, she very apologetic and they had no record the claim on the life insurance policy, I informed her this is my third time calling and have received no information, letter's, of any sort.

She asked for verification of my address, told me information would be in mail should receive in a few days. I am at the end of dealing with this company, I feel they scam seniors the elderly, and there families. This company needs to be prosecuted for all the families they have scammed. I would highly recommend you research this company before you too become a Victim!

I don't know where to start about my experiences while at Senior Life Insurance Company. This company is without a doubt the absolute WORST company you can ever come across. I am a veteran in the insurance game and I have worked full time in this industry for years so I've seen and know most of the players in final expense and when I tell you this company is at the bottom of the barrel, trust me they on the floor of the barrel all by themselves. Just HORRIBLE! When they tell you, you'll be vested day 1, that's such garbage. You'll NEVER be vested with this company and by the time you figure this out it'll be too late and you'll be knee deep. The only people that make money are the higher ups (VPs, Regional Guys, Owner, etc)....you are not in that equation.

Let me explain....you are sold on getting chargebacks taken off the backend (in the 10th month pay through and 1st year renewals). You buy your first set of crappy leads and you are off and running. 2/3 months in, you are having issues with anything getting processed in a timely manner and the staff there are HORRIBLE to deal with. Now you are headed to month 4, because you are owed commissions if you leave and trust me you will never get them. Your VP makes you think YOU are the problem and the only one having issues with delayed processing of apps, horrible staff, etc. You try your best to make it work only to realize the harder you try, the WORST it gets. Now you are no longer knee deep, you are drowning. It's month 10 (the time you suppose to get you pay through) and you then realize you will never see a pay through or renewals with this company. That's when you realize you have been scammed. Now not only will you NEVER get any pay through or renewals, but you also have a lead balance, maybe a couple of chargebacks, etc. I called in to ask when I get my pay through and what is the balance of any pending chargebacks, etc and no one could provide me with this info! WHAT?! How much do I owe? When do I get my pay through?

I was directed to a lady that never calls you back! Left minimum 6 messages, no call back. There isn't a report you can see to figure out any of this. So this is how this company makes their money - off their agents! Agents buy the leads, agents sell the policies and they get a cut out of that, they keep your pay through and renewals, AND they have a poor history of actually paying death claims. Meanwhile you (the agent) livelihood is ruined. Late 2014, as if their company couldn't possibly get worst....oh, but it did. Not only do you now deal with the WORST staff known to human, not make any money, no pay through (you know the rest), now you must work for them. That's right, Senior Life Insurance Company now requires all their agents to write the application, do in house voice recordings (yourself not with a company to do it for you), go home and type in all the customer's info in their system that you just handwrote in the customer's house, then scan the app after all that! While you are still making peanuts! I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. So, as you could imagine I left and got a bill for commissions paid that are still on the books and keep in mind I was there several months so it's an outrageous amount of money. So, you don't pay they extort you by putting you on Vector making it tough to get contracted with a reputable company.

I am absolutely prepared to fight this, consulting an attorney as we speak and we will go from there. I have talked to several agents there with the SAME experience and if you can imagine, they are worst off then me. So, I wasn't the only one having issues as my old VP tried to imply. Please, please, do your research on this company and consider yourself warned! I think if we help each other maybe we can prevent agents from gking down a bad path. Thank you for reading.

I thought long and hard about whether or not to leave a comment about this company. I ultimately decided that it could help someone and who knows maybe even help the company improve so I decided to go forward with leaving a comment. I left this company in May 2014 and I worked in the Georgia and South Carolina areas (parents from SC so frequently worked there as well). I left Senior Life Insurance Company for reasons different than what people might think. The company itself is not bad at all. They have a fair product and I had no problems selling it. The problem lies with the staff or people that work at the Corporate Office. Imagine buying a multi-million dollar empire and hiring a bunch of your family and friends go work there. It is a disaster waiting to happen! The staff there have a sense of entitlement and not worried at all about losing their jobs. So, treating you like crap doesn't affect their bottom line - their job! If you complain, they figure out a way to hold your commissions or delay processing your applications. Why is this important? Oh yes, this is how the agent eats! Also there is something called "the lead balance". So by delaying your commission deposits mean that when you FINALLY get paid, it will go to your lead balance. So in essence, if you complain or if they simply don't like you, you can be forced out by all the delays and no commission deposits thus forcing the agent to go elsewhere. It's a game that I've figured out. They boost about wanting to be #1 and will never get close until changes are made with the Corporate Office Staff. They boost that their entire system is "agent friendly" but I find it anything but "agent friendly". Their agent portal system is outdated and DOES NOT provide a daily accounting of your lead balance OR your commissions report. So unless you keep up with this yourself, there is NO WAY in their system to see this on a daily basis. They do not upload new business applications until the last possible second. For instance, you write an application dated 3/5/2014 but would like the first payment to draft on 4/5/2014. You won't even be able to see it in the system until around 4/3/2014 or 4/4/2014. Does this make sense to anyone with a brain? So, if there is a problem with the application (i.e, made an error, etc), you are screwed because you won't know about it until it's set to draft and it WILL NOT draft until ALL corrections are made. Most corrections require initals, signatures, etc from the client which means you would have to change your entire schedule to go see that client at the last minute in boonetown somewhere in the middle of nowhere to get initials or signatures. So what happens it doesn't draft on time, clients use the money and you are out of the commission that you worked so hard to earn! Meanwhile, what does draft go directly to your lead balance, get it? This happens ALL the time! Senior Life is happy because regardless they get thier lead balance off the top - don't know if they truly care whether you get paid or not. Wouldn't it make more sense to upload the applications to the agent portal as soon as it's faxed? Therefore, if there is a problem with the application it can be taken care of well in advance of the draft date. I can not understand the reason they do this and it's certainly not "agent friendly" to me. When you call the home office you get a different answer on protocol every time. One person says this another says something totally diferent. Everybody there says they are so swamped - wouldn't it make sense to hire more people so the company runs more efficiently. In some of the departments, there is 1 person doing the job so if that person is out you are screwed and everything is delayed. I simply can't understand why the owner doesn't make these changes. I'm assuming to save money but by doing so a lot of money is being lost - I'd guess more than what's being saved. I'm sure they've lost a lot of good agents that didn't want to leave - me included! Before you agents, managers, staff of Senior Life Insurance Company start blowing up this site with comments that I'm sure will be different from mine - please understand this was my individual experience and is my truth. I'm sure you guys worship Senior Life Insurance Company and will drink their bath water! If anyone should be pissed it should be me - I left senior life because I was treated poorly by the staff and didn't feel valued for my hard work and efforts - need I say more! If your experience was great, I am happy someone has something nice to say and was treated better but there are plently of comments online that have a difference of opinio; and not all were bad agents! Again, my hope is that changes are made there because the company has great bones! Good luck and hopefully your experience is better and some much needed changes will me made.
