Servpro Reviews

  • Jan 14, 2015

This review is based on my experience with Servpro of Flagler County after flooding in my home on September 26, 2014. This company does not offer any customer service and if you try to get overcharged items adjusted they will just put a lien on your home instead of adjusting their bill. They will not offer you a payment plan if your insurance company denies your claim. They will charge you for after hours service calls even if they were not at your home outside of regular business hours (Monday-Friday). Servpro of Flagler County takes advantage of customers when they are already suffering and hurting as a result of flood or fire damage.

This type of business doesn't deserve to exist. Servpro of Flagler County does not disclose their excessive fees for water damage repair before you sign the paperwork. Instead they just run up all kinds of crazy fees without even telling you. Be sure to ask them what they are charging and make sure you can afford to pay their excessive fees before you sign anything. After Servpro of Flagler County was called out to my home days passed where they did nothing but run fans and dehumidifiers. They did not remove any of the water damaged materials. When I asked how soon that would happen they told me they were backed up with other jobs (meanwhile I was charged over $3,000 for fans and dehumidifiers over a 3 day period). I finally told Servpro of Flagler to come pick up their equipment and handled the remaining water damage repairs myself (much more quickly than Servpro). They added to the damages by failing to remove any of the water damaged materials...something that is normally among the very first things you do in a water damage situation. When they did come to pick up their equipment they provided me with a bill that had all kinds of inaccurate charges.

In addition the charges were truly excessive --- over $1,000 per day just for fans and dehumidifiers. I asked them to remove the after hours service call charges because they were never at my home after hours and they agreed to do so. I never received a corrected bill. Months passed and they contacted me to find out when they would be paid. I explained that my insurance company denied the claim and we did not have the money to pay them. I also explained that there were inaccurate charges on the bill that were supposed to be removed (I have text messages with one of their managers saved on my phone acknowledging that they would be adjusting the bill). Instead of sending a corrected bill or offering me a payment plan they choose to file a lien against my home. Servpro of Flagler County overcharges customers because they are used to dealing with insurance companies.

If your insurance company instructs you to call out Servpro you may want to think twice....if the insurance company denies your claim (very common in Florida) you will be left with the bill and Servpro will try to take your home by filing a lien. They are unresponsive and do not adjust their bills when they overcharge for services never received but they sure will file a lien on your home/property to protect their interests. Do yourself a favor and take these steps if you have water damage - you will save a fortune and avoid losing your home: 1. Go to HomeDepot to rent the exact same fans and dehumidifiers that Servpro Flagler uses. You will save about 70% over the price that Servpro charges. Fans and dehumidifiers are easy to set up. You plug them in and turn them on. Dehumidifiers have a drain line that you run to the nearest sink or bath tub. Set the dehumidifiers to 50% which is a fairly normal humidity level inside your home. 2. Remove all water damaged materials including flooring immediately (your city will probably pick up these items 100% free of charge if you call ahead of time and explain your situation). 3. Call out a drywall contractor to check your drywall for damages (you may not need to have the drywall replaced if you act quickly and get fans/dehumidifiers set up right away). 4. Call out electricians, painters, flooring contractors and any other contractors you may need yourself to get estimates for all necessary repairs. Choose a good contractor for each job and pay them directly. 5. Use a product called Concrobium (available at Home Depot) to treat your floors and walls for mold damage. This is the exact same product that Servpro uses. 6. If you need additional help you can always call the nearest day labor company (this is what Servpro of Flagler County does). You will save at least 30% over what Servpro Flagler charges by doing this yourself and you will have the same ex-convicts and felons that Servpro of Flagler County sends out to your home. All ServPro does is act as a middle man. They do very little if any of the work to repair your home. Instead they hire day labor contractors for you and mark up the costs by 30% or more. You can save thousands of dollars and a great deal of frustration by handling your water damage yourself. Many of the contractors that Servpro uses have questionable backgrounds because they are sourced from Day Labor services. They are likely sending convicts and felons into your home.....does that make you feel safe and secure? Do yourself a favor and handle your water damage without the Servpro Flagler middle man.
