Skyline Corporation, Inc. Reviews

Skyline Homes attempts to rip off buyers by increasing prices on options amounting to either a few up to hundreds of dollars. As you proceed through the selection and buying process you naturally add or change an option. When you do, they take other previous options and arbitrarily raise their prices.

As we progressed with them we had to have 3 separate quotes. Each, and every time, I found Skyline had upped prices on features they had already quoted. They hope you don't notice and don't pay attention to the details.

When we protested those tactics, we were told that their costs for materials went up and that they were simply updating prices. This occurred on 8 separate features from quotes only 3 weeks apart.

In the end, we terminated our business with Skyline and took our business to Design Homes. Design Homes did not try that type of tactic even once. We signed a contract to purchase with Design Homes.

What Skyline does is to Low Ball customers by initially quoting lower and then raising feature and option prices after the fact. Totally unethical and dishonest...!!

My husband and I purchased our Skyline doublewide manufactured home in April 1999. We were never told when it would be delivered or set up. We arrived at the lot one day to find it sitting there in the driveway.

When it was set up, the individuals were supposed to connect the sewer, water, electric and gas lines. They did none of these things. My husband had to do all of this, including knocking a hole in the foundation for the sewer pipe. We did pay the dealership for these items to be done.

After inspection of the home prior to moving in, we found a number of manufacturing defects including walls that were obviously not plumb, a wall in one of the bathrooms bulged out, and the kitchen cabinets had a plastic wood look veneer on them rather than being solid wood. We informed the representative from the dealer of these items and were told there was nothing they could do about it. They did replace the linoleum in the kitchen because there was a penny-size nick in it. Also, the insulation package we purchased was not what we purchased - it was a lower grade.

Shortly after we purchased the home, we learned that the skylights leaked, the windows did not fit tight and cold air blew in, the living room carpet had stains allover it that only showed up with a black light, the breaker box was always being blown and the outside light switch would become untouchably hot when we had the outside light on.

The roof was replaced on the house but the leak did not stop. Eventually, the ceiling in the bathroom was covered with black mold and fell in. We could not use this room. Many complaints to the dealer resulted in us being told we were crazy.

We do not have any paperwork on this transaction because we had a garage fire while we were in the process of moving and all our records were destroyed.
