For months I keep getting mailers from smart cremation, I have called them many of times telling them to take my family off their mailing lists. I have been a lic Funeral Director for many years and my father works for a cemetary so we would not be needing their services.
Smart cremations IS NOT Green!!! Nor are they eco friendly... There is not alot of crematories in California that are " green yet" and for the reason is, it is costly,
I told the people who answer the phones do not send me anything and do they listen NO. yes Calif does require you be in a container and that means a cardboard container. In Nevada if you donate your body to science all they use is a body bag.
Now today I get ANOTHER mailer . These people do not listen period all they care about is $$$$. They over charge period. Now if they were a GREEN crematory the cost to cremate would be almost $3k, It uses the natural process of water and alkalinity (potassium hydroxide) to reduce the body, like flame based cremation, to a basic element of bone ash in the same amount of time as traditional cremation. This process is also known as alkaline hydrolysis or biocremation. Alkaline hydrolysis is the natural process a body undergoes after burial, which can take up to 25 years. Green Cremation essentially accelerates this natural process to 2-3 hours in a very quiet, controlled environment.
People you need to wise up and check smart cremations out and ask to see their crematory ( retort) ask them how many they cremate a day etc. if they only have 2 retorts but they claim they cremate more then 12 a day you need to back away that is saying they are cremating in mass which is against the law. A regular retort can take 2-3 hrs and that is also on the size of the body then a few hours more to reduce the bones to ashes ( cremains), you need to ask to see crematory lic of the operators, you just dont want anyone to be pushing the buttons . also ask when the retorts were inspected.
