This place is awful! Be extremely careful if you have the misfortune of dealing with SolarVPS, FortressITX or anything they have to do with. Or better yet, just go to ANY other host. Any. To begin with, they guarantee 100% uptime on managed servers, but that rarely happens, and when your websites are your businesses and you're paying for a dedicated server, that is the LAST problem on the planet you want or need. The server where our company's websites were hosted went down regularly, once for days, and for no reason.

Worse? they make getting ANY service or support from a human being almost impossible. Most of the time, you had to wait for the better part of the day before someone emailed you back a one liner or something. No communication. NO communication. And when you do hear communication from their support, it's like they have ZERO people skills. They refuse to give you any information, they're abrasive, you can't get ANY questions answered EVER. Often they just wouldn't answer a follow-up question about a problem at ALL.

For the record, when the server would go down, we wouldn't have been working on any code in the site, nor worked on anything on the server or settings, we had normal traffic conditions, nothing to indicate a problem. And the entire server would just crash and take all of our sites down with it.

Second, completely without warning or indication, they removed all contact information, turned off all of their phones, their emails bounce. The ONLY way you can "pretend" to contact them is through a tiny link at the bottom of the page that goes to a static contact page. When you send emails through that contact form you get no reply. We specifically signed up with a host that had accessable support, and then they unceremoniously not only removed an easy way to contact support, but they removed ALL WAYS to contact their ENTIRE COMPANY... They even killed their Facebook for a long time and started up a new page. If anything went wrong, you had to email a vague support address on another host and HOPE to have a return.

Their support was piss poor. For example we'd email that every website was down, WHM was down, the server was functionally offline and we'd maybe get an email back 6 hours later -- asking us for our root password before they'd lift a finger on the problem. Meanwhile, most of the day, our websites are completely offline and they don't care at. all.

This wasn't a one time problem, it was every single time we had a problem.

If you had a question, you can't even contact them! Again, you have to send an email to some "pool" address somewhere where someone would eventually get it and respond to you. If you wrote, for example, "I'm seeing a lot of memory being used, and I'm wondering if I should upgrade my memory soon or if something else is happening there?" They'd respond (an unacceptable amount of time later) that a memory upgrade is $10 a month. Tell us if you want to do it.

This place is TERRIBLE. Their service, and to a far greater degree, their customer service, is the worst I've ever seen in fifteen years of dealing with ISPs.

I've seen complaints from others on their new FB page about them hosting criminal spammers and I'd be inclined to believe it, the secretive way they just decided absolutely no customers or people of any kind needed to contact anyone in the company. I don't know what's going on at SolarVPS, but it's shady as hell. Take your money ANYWHERE else.

I thought we'd never get off of that host without it destroying something of ours. Thank god we did.
