Steven Flores Reviews

  • Aug 29, 2014

We hired Steven Flores on July 29, 2014 for exterior painting services of our home. The initial estimate was $1200, so to secure the contract we paid him with a cashier's check in the amount of $640. We then scheduled the work to take place on August 8 & 9, 2014.

Steven's son called me on August 6, 2014 to let me know Steven was in the hospital having hernia surgery and would be unable to complete the job as scheduled for August 8 and 9. However, when I called Steven on August 8, he was already working on someone else's home. On the day he was scheduled to be working on ours.

We rescheduled for the weekend of August 15 and 16.

On August 15, 2014, Steven sent a text to tell me the painting would need to be rescheduled due to weather conditions, but they would still be able to pressure wash the house. The house was pressure washed while I was at Tire Kingdom for car repairs.

Before I left Tire Kingdom, Steven sent me a text asking for $100 for his pressure washing worker because he wouldn’t be able to make it back to his office to get the money for him. I asked if the $100 would go towards the invoice of $1200. He said it would. I got home and gave Steven the $100 which he gave me a handwritten receipt for towards the cost of paint services. We then re-scheduled the paint job for August 27 & 28.

On August 21, 2014, Steven sent me a text to tell me everything had been stolen; his van and all the contents inside and he now had a new phone number. He wanted to confirm the August 27 & 28 schedule with a start time of 9:00 a.m. I confirmed it.

On August 27, 2014, Steven, nor his crew, showed up at the house to complete the work as promised, nor were there any phone calls received for cancellation. I called Steven at 11:00 a.m. asking his whereabouts. His business partner, Scott, then called me shortly after I left the voicemail to inform me Steven was at the hospital with his infant daughter. Scott said he would get the house back on the schedule.

On August 28, 2014 I had had enough and felt like I was being scammed. Steven was not answering his phone or returning my phone calls, so I decided to cancel the work and ask for my money back. Steven's business partner, Scott, told me he would get my money back in full. When I spoke to Steven later that day, I was told I he had mailed a check for $250 of the $500 I had given him. I told Steven I had given him $740 and I wanted it back. Steven told me he was charging me $740 for the pressure washing job and hung up. When I spoke to his business partner later on about what Steven had said, his business partner confirmed that no pressure washing job costs $740 and he would get my money back to me.

Steven Flores is a scam artist who does not have any intention of doing the work, nor acting in a professional or honest manner. He claims to be an honest professional, which is every scam artist's catch phrase. Had he been honest or professional, he would not have absconded with our $740 deposit. We are reporting him for fraud to our local Sheriff's Office and suing him in small claims court for our deposit. Steer clear of this scam artist should you happen to run into him.
