Straight Talk, Inc Reviews

I have had Straight talk service for approx. 18 months now and I just noticed that they had been billing my bank account for 2 separte amounts each and every month for the last 6 months. They billed it 5 days apart on each month. One of the charges is $49.31 then billing me 5 days later for $46.60. When I called Straight talk they told me that they where only charging me one time a month and wouldn't do anything about it. I told them the dates and the amounts that they charged to my debit card.

They are blaming the bank for the error. My bank isn't the one that put in to be paid Straight talk is. I hadn't noticed it because my eye sight was imparred by cateracts and noticed it today after getting my cateracts removed.

I have stopped the auto debit of my account.

They know that I paid them in advance.

I am a small business owner and I have been charged by Straight Talk sevices for the past two years but have never used their services. Turns out they are for pre-paid phone cards. Check your credit card statements for charges between 49 and 50 per month. You may be paying for someone's cell phone and not know it. I called their customer service line and the entire customer service line is automated. There is no option to talk to a person. This is why credit card companies give you the option to dispute charges!

Among other's things.. The last straw was when they deactivated my BYOP phone. It had been working out just fine for several months. One day it stopped working. I finally got to talk to someone about it. They say they transfered my number to another phone. I told them I don't have another phone. I've had this number for a couple of years now. I don't want it transfered... Well.. After about an hour of talking to different people. (And explaining to each one that I DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER PHONE) They told me there is nothing I can do now. I have to buy another activation card. And get a new number. I ask them to give me back the money for the other card since it has only been used for 2 weeks of the month that I paid for. They tell me they don't do that. SOOO.. You sell me a card for $45.00 for a month of use, Deactivate it after 2 weeks. Then tell me I have to buy another card now. If you think about how many millions of customers they have. If they do this to just a fraction. That's still millions of dollars they are making. Just from the people that have to buy 2 cards in one month. Straight up Rip Off !!.. I'm with a new company now. I hope someone sues these clowns.

This is not the first problem I have had with these idiots. It's just the last time I'm going to let them rip me off !

After 5 hours of trying to activate my phone last night they stole my $66 and refuse to credit my account

Last night I purchased a $66 bring your own phone activation kit because we had straight talk successfully last year for about a year.

Their online activation step by step system took my service plan card number and applied it to my husband's old number that is no longer attached to our account after FIVE hours of fighting just to get it to go past the first screen (the ONLY one that would go was to reactivate your old phone number to your new phone).

Now today after 4 hours of waiting on hold, being hung up on and lied to I am told oh well we refuse to credit your account for the product you paid for you just gave them a free month of service and to top it off Leslie of the Bacolod Philipines call center under Mr Kimberly Drefuy actually had the NERVE to laugh at me for their system stealing our money.

I am disabled and raising 4 children so I do NOT have $66 to just give away and now as of 2/11 I will have NO way to contact my doctors and no way to keep in touch with family and if I end up in the ICU because of my disability and being unable to reach the doctors you can bet your backside they will be paying the bills! So I STRONGLY suggest you credit our account the service card or refund my $66 for the kit and I will just go with another carrier. So choose wisely...

They need to fix what THEIR _system STOLE OR face a nice fat lawsuit for endangerment, pain and suffering and distress in addition to the lawyers fees and the court fees to boot.

As a rule I feel companies should be up front with customers. And this company is not doing all it should to inform its potential customers or existing ones. Please Be aware that when purchasing a phone from this company they will not update the operating system. When a consumer is paying from 300-500 $ for a phone it should be plainly stated the phone will not receive updates to its operating system. In my opinion it is a rip off to its customers not to receive firm ware updates leaving their phones and personal data unprotected. SO IF YOU BUY A STRAIGHT TALK PHONE ITS AS IS NO UPDATES!!!

I signed up for the service from Straight Talk Wireless, and I ordered a phone from them online. I am unable to download any apps. I have been on the phone with at least 20 people, and no one can solve the problem. They won't talk to me, unless I have another phone to call from. They also won't replace a defective phone, unless I send the other phone back first.

The people there speak poor English, and it's hard to communicate with some of them. This is a horrible company! When you ask to speak to a supervisor, it takes forever!

This is the worst company of all time!

After activating the phone I purchased online at Straight Talk, I realized it was defective and even tried to have it repaired. I eventually sent it back within 20 days, and waited another 30 days for my refund. After MANY hours calling regarding this, they said the only way i would get a refund is if I provided a tracking# from the post office. Before I sent the phone I asked for a return authorization #, but they would not provide it. I insured the phone upon sending, and spent $15.00, but they still say they won't credit my account OR SEND A REFUND.

DO NOT PURCHASE PHONES FROM STRAIGHT TALK ON THE INTERNET. THEY ONLY PUBLISH THOSE PHONES SO THEY CAN RIP YOU OFF!

I logged on to their internet site to see if "my phone" would work in my zip code. The response came back yes. So I ordered the $50 activation package. There are telling me know that it will not work. Huh? Why would I intentionally order something that does not work. Took two live chats and three phone calls to tell me my phone would not work.

Did you not read our terms and conditions? No refunds. Yeah, well see about that through my card company. Stay away from these guys. Horrible customer service and a worthless web site.

I paid $379.85+538.07. I have only used less than $300. Straight talk refuses to refund the balance because I did not read terms/conditions. I paid $379.85 early in 2013 opening a Straight Talk wireless service. The phone number is 908-343-1838. I like Straight Talk because there is no contract. On 2/10/2014, I paid $538.07 for additional a year of service in advance. Last month, I switched to Hilio which is much inexpensive than Straight Talk. I requested a refund for the unused service by email. Straight Talk did not respond. Thus, I called and asked a refund to the customer service. The representative said there will be no refund for unused in advance fee I paid because I did not read carefully the terms and conditions. Who reads the small characters of all the terms and conditions? This kind of business practice is not respectable. Straight Talk is not supposed to deprive the unprovided services from the customers money in this way. They should refund over $500.00 immediately. At least, they should have red character warning sentences on their website when customers click and pay for advance payment. For example: "You are about to pay un-refundable airtime fees." Straight Talk is cheating customers advertising "No Contract" by no refund in small characters in terms & conditions. This is not respectable company's business practices at all. Straight Talk should make money providing better service with lower price not by cheating most customers are not reading small terms and conditions. They should not take any money from the customers for nothing. This is not a proper way of making money.

I Wished I had did my research prior to purchasing net 10 and Straight talk to learn, they are the same company. Now, I know why they have so many different names and companies, so that when they scam one, they hope the consumer goes to another prepaid which is owned by them and they can scam them again.

I am just WAITING for a class action against this company.

Problem: I was wanting to switch from Verizon Contract once I have finished out my contract, to a prepaid carrier like Net 10...Net 10 allows you to bring your own phone. I even went to their website to check the compatibility of my phone/carrier and all was clear. I purchased a Net 10 prepaid starter package with first month of service and the starter kit ( sim card ) from Walmart. Net 10 promises excelent coverage at 4g. I have a brand new LG G2 which is of course, compatible.. Once I went through the process, my phone did NOT get 3g instead, it read "H" and the signal bars are 2 at best, mostly 1 with a small "r" for roaming...I live in Charlotte NC and know their is an abundant of towers in the are. I called, and they told me they could not promise service. I asked for a refund, they told me "non refundable"..

Ok, so I figured I would wait out the 30 days then switch. Yesterday, after the 30 days, went to Walmart, Read the nice display for Straight Talk, it stated clearly, 4g lte at the best nationwide coverage. The information stated as long as you have an 4g lte compatible phone, it works.. NO WHERE on the box, does it state anything such as "cannot guarantee service in your location, Subject to available towers, etc etc", you read 4g lte, nationwide best coverage and you believe it will work. Again, after all, their are no disclaimers on the packaging!!

Got home, went through the whole process, and the SAME service ( or lack ther 0f ) As I was getting with Net 10. no 3g, no 4g lte, just an "H" and 2 bars with a small "r" ( roaming )...read online now that they are the same company owned by tracfone. I called the tech support, of course in INdia...All the guy kept telling me was, "their may not be any towers near your home off the AT&T network" ( FALSE, plenty )....I kept telling him how misleading their packaging was, lure folks in, do not promise what they advertise and then tell consumers "non refundable" ( now I know why the say non refundable, they know they would be putting out more money than taking in )...The indian guy told me, "maybe you should check the coverage prior to purchasing"...Seriously???? their coverage maps shows the entire united states, as well, how can I "try before I buy"? i have no way of knowing the service will work without trying. you go into Verizon dealer, and they can tell you if their is service. Their packaging tells you the have the best nationwide service available for 4g lte and you BEST be able to back that promise up, especially when you 1. offer no disclaimer about coverage 2. state non refundable...

I have read , today actually, wished I did prior, lesson learned of course, they are horrible, have faced one class action suit before for false advertising unlimited data..Its a matter of time before someone runs with this excelent set up for a class action suit. Im filing a complaint with the FTC, and my State Attorney Generals office on these false advertising claims!

I renewed my Straight Talk service on August 7, 2014. Within 6 days they claim I surpassed my data useage, which I know to be completely incorrect. My AVG app on my phone has a data counter and at today's present date, being August 17, 2014, my data useage counter reads 1.39 GB of 2.50 GB used sine August 7, 2014. Because of Straight Fall's bogus claims, they have restricted my data useage. I can barely access the internet and pages take up to 10 minutes to load. Cannot watch any video's. I am very disgusted by their lies.

They claimed they couldn't help me with my service issue. Then told me I had to drive a mile to regain service even thoughI had just been using the phone the prior night for past few weeks. Then wouldn't give refund.

Striaight Talk just informed me that I had used up all my allotted high speed data and that my data speed would be reduced for the remainder of my 30 day service. This is bulls*!! Wal-mart advertises the plan I have as unlimited, what I'd like to know what of the plan is unlimited? The answer to this is "Frustration" that is mostly what you get trying to use the damn plan!!! If you have to call the so called and misnamed "customer service" you will get some b* in who knows where who can't speak english well enough to understand. It takes a long time to get anything done, indeed if you get anything done at all!!

I wanted to transfer un- used time to another phone number..

To rub salt in the wound.. they hung up on me.... and I had been on hold for over 40 minutes...!!
