The tax preparer took $394 from my tax return without my authorization. This constitutes overcharge and no fee disclosure. I was never told to sign anything, did not agree to a $394 fee, and was never given any of the tax preparer's information such as the EFINor PTIN. The tax preparer failed to include page 2 of the Form 1040A so that I could not see the true amount of my return (my return was $1076, but I only received $682). The same thing happened to my stepmother and two family friends who were able to get their money back from the tax preparer after signing an agreement that they would not sue her for overcharge and no fee disclosure. My stepmother was charged $675.95 for her tax return, and the tax return prepared by Sara Navas was flagged by the IRS for fraud. My stepmother, therefore, had to re-file for last years taxes with someone else and has still yet to receive her tax return from the previous year, yet it is now time to file for taxes this year again.
My attempts to contact the tax preparer were futile, as she did not answer the phone, closed down the office, and did not respond to any voice mail or e-mail messages that I sent her. I was then able to contact her the following tax season and she said that it was not her problem, that is the starndard fee, and that she did not care. Look at her flyer, she does not even have a web address! I contacted the florida division of licensing and they said they didn't even have a record of such person. This is a scam on a large scale!
