Telecom Management Reviews

  • Nov 19, 2014

I signed up for 2 phones with T-Mobile with a gentleman that came into my place of work. I had told him that I was planning on getting phones for my children as well and he said that "he could" help me with that when the time came. He did not tell me that he had to help me with that. I was given a 1 page yellow piece of paper for a contract. He gave me a brief summary of what was on that page which did not include that I HAD to make any changes through them. I spoke with someone on the phone while he was here to set up the account and was not told that I HAD to make any changes through them.

About a week later, I received my free phones. The only paperwork that was in the packaging with my phones was the packing slip.

I never received any emails from this company.

My phones were activated on 8-13-14. At the end of August, beginning of September I went into the local T-Mobile store to look at phones for my children. I wanted to be able to pick out the phone that they were to have. I didn't know I was not supposed to go through T-Mobile to do this because I got my bill from T-Mobile and I figured all was good.

While speaking with the T-Mobile Customer Service assistant, she told me that I was in a specific "older style" contract for my and my husband's phones and that they could not change that but that they could set up a separate account for my children's phones. I figured that was fine. I didn't see a problem with that. All was set up.

Today is November 18th, 2014 and I am looking at a bill from Telecom management Associates for $800.00. They claim that 6 days after my phones were activated, I breached the contract and therefore must pay for the phones. I immediately called the number on the statement. I was connected to a gentleman and explained to him my problem. He immediately began telling me that I was specifically told several times that all changes had to be made through them. I tried to tell him that this was not the case but he kept talking over me to reiterate his comments. He told me that the terms were emailed to me. I told him I never got that email. He told me that the salesman explained it to me. I told him that this was not the case and that the salesman actually told me he "could" help me with any problem or changes. He told me it was included with the phones when i received them. I explained to him that the only thing in with my phones was a packing slip. There weren't even boxes or anything, just phones, charging cords and a the packing slip.

They are claiming that I breached contract 6 days after receiving the phones. I didn't even go into T-mobile until September 3rd!! This is a tragic display of business practices. If someone from this company comes into where you work and offers you a great deal on cell phones - show them the door!!!
