Terminix Reviews

6 months ago I had pest issues and called Terminix. They quoted me a basix service rate andwhen the technician came out he confirmed it wasn't a major issue that I had. I called afterwards and paid the bill of $57 and change and was told they should probably follow up in a few months. 3 months later a few pests had come back so I arrandged a second appt. Pest were almost non existant after a few more months but figured one more treatment just in case. At this time I realized I had not gotten a bill in a while and checked my Card account. EVERY month I was charged the $57 for the ntire 6 months. When I called they told me I was enrolled in the Ultimate Protection Package that I never agreed to. Signed up for basic service. I promptly cancelled but was unable to get any refund. What a rip off. Everyone needs to watch them closely and the funds they are taking. Buyer be ware with these scam artists.

Terminix purchased the termite control company that I had a termite protection plan. Terminix then proceeded to raise my yearly rates by 300% in the last ten years. Not even health care has shot up that fast. Terminix knows they have you in a bind because it is very expensive to get a new initial termite treatment. Once you pay for a new termite treatment, you can get very reasonable yearly rates from other companies. I am looking for an attorney that will file a class action lawsuit against Terminax.

I canceled my lawn spray service in July 2014. They treated my lawn in August 2014, then billed me $128. I called and complained, they said they would credit my account. They said they didn't process the cancelation in time to cancel the service call. I felt 3 weeks was sufficient time. In September of 2014 I received another bill, and I called again. I was assured again my account would be credited, it has not. I wrote them and filed a claim, their response was simply"Claim Denied". I have never been able to talk to a manager, or get a call back. My written response to them was "After reviewing their bill for unauthorized service, and trespassing on my property, their bill has been denied." They have now filed a negative comment on my credit report. This should be illegal and penalized. I had no other issues or late payments with them for over 10 years. If I knew this is how they do business I would have fired them years ago. They actually had the nerve to offer me their same service at half the price I was paying. My response was, " So how many years have I been overpaying you?" In my opinion they use deceptive trade practices, lie, and are nothing more than a bully. I am still waiting on them to mail me correspondence proving their claim. They do acknowledge I canceled in July, and serviced my property in August. But I must pay because of their incompetence.

I used Terminix to treat my home for termites. I paid 1300.00 for one year of service. I was told after three months someone would come back and check my home. After three months, I heard nothing from Terminix and don't know if they come out to check my home. I decided not to renew my contract. At the end of my contract, Terminix called to get me to renew they said they checked and found signs of termites in the bate traps. I have a locked gate I don't know how they got in my yard. Since I didn't renew terminix wanted to remove the bate traps. They called several times. They called when I was out of town and I told them I would be home the next day and I would meet with them. I heard nothing from Terminix but I noticed in my back yard the traps were gone. I will not do business with Terminix again and would not recomend Terminix to anyone.

On May 7, 2014 I signed a contact with Terminix of Midlothian, VA for termites control and thinking that

another well know company would be better for me since they did not used Termidor as they claim

I asked for my 300.00 back within 24 hours I was told this and that I had to go to the bank to do a STOP

Payment for 31.00 please do not used Terminix that bait system is a joke and costley one at that

Do not give Terminix and money because if you cancel your contract you will get the run around all for $300.00

I have a rental house up in Ball Ground, GA. I used to live there, and knew there was a rodent issue. So when Terminix, who inherited my termite protection after I moved out had tenants in, mentioned having a pest control service where they would rid the place of rodents I was thrilled and began to pay them a recurring fee via automatic deduction from a credit card. Their guarantee was that they would return as many times a service period as needed, and would return on a scheduled basis to inspect and place traps if needed.

In December 2011 I was cleaning the house between tenants and found droppings in the bathrooms and drawers. I called Terminix and said I was stopping the service as it was clearly not working. They said that my previous tenant did not allow them in the house and that they would come out free of charge and work with my new tenants to make certain it was taken care of.

After some thought and conferring with the new tenants we decided to give them another chance. Some rodents were captured and we felt the situation was under control. Terminix continued to charge me and periodically come out. In July they told the tenants that there were signs of activity and that they needed to check the trap in the crawlspace (!!) to see if there was more activity. They left extra traps with the tenants, who also had to remove the bodies. (I found this out while speaking with my tenants. I was pretty outraged by that attitude compared to the service I receive in my Atlanta home from a different company).

I received the September rent with a lot of photos of issues that the tenants had encountered. One, the most recent issue, really concerned me. They described a smell of mold and mildew in the bathroom. Upon pulling the vanity from the back bathroom (which adjoins the other full bathroom that contains the jetted tub and shower) they saw a hole in the wall. They said that as they stood there, the largest rat they has ever seen walked in, looked at them, and ran out through that hole. There was evidence of major damage in the wall and droppings. He covered the hole and began to bleach the mold. He went into the other bathroom and removed the panel from the tub, whereupon he was quite knocked out by the horrendous odor of mold and rat urine. The jetted tub had ceased to work at this time as well.

Our belief was that the rats had punctured the hoses in the jetted tub, which operate under pressure and sprayed some water out as time went on and the damage increased (but before the tub stopped operating completely) which caused the extensive water damage.

After this was repaired, we found that the rodents had built nests, chewed the wiring in the furnace, and caused carbon monoxide to enter the home, creating a potentially deadly situation. For safety reasons, the technician disabled the furnace. The entire HVAC unit had to be replaced.

Facing a bill of nearly 10,000 after all this was done, I contacted them about their guarantee. I was told by several Terminix representatives, including their lawyer, that they cannot guarantee that rodents will not enter the home after their serviceman has left the premises. Their guarantee simply states that they will ensure rodents are removed at that time.

Obviously, this is not what they say in their materials, on the phone, or in their welcome email, which states that they prevent pests from entering the home. In addition, if the technician had actually inspected the property and shone his flashlight into the crawlspace, he would have seen evidence of infestation before it reached this stage and might have prevented such extensive costs.

Letter to Terminix (04/04/14) ---

You folks are unbelievable! All of this started Friday w/ your failure to show for a scheduled appointment and no call all evening to let us know you couldn't make the appointment. As a result, your lack of consideration and professionalism forced us to miss a very close friend's birthday celebration.

We made multiple calls that evening and were told we'd receive a call back; as you well know, we never did.

My wife missed a call from Terminix early on Tue morning advising that someone would be out between 1700 - 1900 that evening. Well that wasn't going to work. That was the same time slot promised for Monday and you folk didn't show. We didn't have a whole lot of confidence you folks wouldn't ""no show"" once again and not bother to call.

I made multiple calls to your worthless call center, got hung up when I told the CSR I wanted to speak to a manager. I never raised my voice, nor used an profanity. Unlike you folks, I was professional..

I wasn't dissuaded. I called back and once again asked to speak to a manager. Finally, at approx. 0823 Tue morning I spoke w/ Danny (Phx call center). He listened to my account of what transpired and I explained that the problem was with the wasps on the roof coming in thru the skylight and the tech was going to need daylight hours to effectively assess and treat the problem. Danny told me the Branch Managers handled all the scheduling and he would have to get hold of them to try to find a better time. He added that he wanted them to hear my complaint. He hen put me on hold, as he tried to conference in one of the Branch Managers (Becky or Stuart). Danny apologized that he couldn't reach them, but took down my direct cell (((REDACTED))) and said one of them would call me back . . . which, as you well know, then never did.

I called back a couple of hours later and spoke w/ Larry. He kindly listened to the whole story once again and was also very apologetic. He then explained that it could take up to 24 hrs to get a call back. Not sure why Danny didn't tell me that. Larry again took down my cell phone # and said he'd have one of the branch managers call me back.

I then went to your web site and filled out a request to be contacted. I didn't get any response on that until the following day, Wed (response below).

Here we are now on Friday and I have yet to hear back from Becky or Stuart.

It's obvious at this point that you folks simply don't care about the individual homeowner customer. You've grown into just another national chain -- similar to the behemouth Telecoms -- and could care less about us. I just wonder if you, Becky or Stuart would feel the same way if this happened to you personally.

Your're FIRED!!!!

You're not the only game in town and I have choices. I just made mine.
