Terra Incognita Reviews

Happy customer

I've been working with Jacki Barbieri for nearly 3 years now and have been very pleased. She's always been able to answer any questions I've had. We have a Lagotto that we wouldn't trade for the world. Jacki is also an excellent trainer.

Rare breed Lagotto Romagnolo dog.

Be very careful when you purchase one of these dogs. There are several breeders who are unethical, and will rip you off without even a second thought. Several people have purchased dogs from the kennel Terra Incognita, Jacki Barbieri owner. She will take your money and insist that you co-own your dog with her. Then she will not add your name to the pedigree as a co-owner, as stated in her contract. So you just paid a hefty amount of money, for a dog that you will never own, can't breed or show.

Jacki Barbieri of Terra Incognita kennels has broken many, many contracts with people she has sold dogs to.

She and her partner, Sandra Schmit, purchase dogs out of the newspaper in Europe for $300.00-$500.00, and sell those same dogs in North America for $2500.00-$7500.00! That's a pretty big mark up value. Oh, and you pay for the shipping.

Jacki will then put her kennel name, Terra Incognita, on the registration form of your dog, so it looks as though she is the breeder. Jacki is breaking the by-laws of the American Kennel Club and doesn't even care.

Be very careful, or better yet, don't buy a dog from Jacki Barbieri of Terra Incognits kennels. There are several other breeders who are involved with Jacki and who do the same things she does.

In the U.S. beware of Jacki Barbieri and Theresa Williams, as well as Mel Sykes. They will rip you off!!

In Canada, beware of Melissa Drysdale and Bridgette Flynn. They come across as being legitimate, but they will rip you off with dog that have health concerns, false advertising of pedigrees, and playing upon their status in the breed club. Be very cautious, or better yet, stay away!

If you want to get involved with this beautiful and rare breed of dog, I would suggest contacting a small breeder, who is truly concerned with doing what is best for the breed, and not raking in $200,000.00 a year breeding dogs. Dogs are not a commodity, to be bought and re-sold strictly for profit.

I can personally recommend Lagotino kennels, Two By Two kennels and Mio Amore. I can not stress enough how carefull you must be when buying one of these dogs. Do not get conned by one of these breeders.

I paid $3300.00 for a pure bred dog that I specifically purchased to show and breed.

My signed contract was never returned to my or a receipt for my payment.

As per the contract, I was to be placed on his registration paper as a co-owner once the dog turned 2 and health testing had been completed.

The dog is now 3 and I am still not named on his registration paper.

All health testing has been completed as per the contract.

I am not able to show my dog, because I am not named as an owner.

I have all receipts and documents to substanciate that I paid Terra Incognita for my puppy, and that I was the one who picked him up at the airport.

My emails and calls are now being ignored.

Rumors and false accusations are being spread about me by Ms. Barberi.

I would like my name only to appear on my dogs registration paper, as I have lost trust in Terra Incognita kennels and Jacki Barberi. I do not see us working together in a possitive and productive relationship.
