The College Network Reviews

  • Feb 5, 2015

I am in the LPN to RN program with Excelsior College and use The College Network (TCN) for the online education material to help me with my theory exams that I take through Excelsior College. I had a financial contract with TCN who worked with Souteast Fininacial for the financng and I pay my monthly fee. As of 11/2014, this loan was paid off. As a part of my financial contract, I included my testing fees. This means that once I have finish a theory lesson/module and have completed all quizes in this theory with a 90% or higher, I contact TCN to request payment for exam fee to be sent to me so I can pay and take my theory exam with Excelsior College. TCN has access to all my scores on my quizes since all the modules are online.

On 10/14/14 I requested payment and was instructed it would take 12 weeks to recieve. On 12/29/14 I emailed TCN regarding progress of my exam fee and was received a reply stating "We apologize for the delay in processing your exam fee request for Reproductive Health. We have notified Accounting of your inquiry in order to escalate your request. Checks are being sent to customers daily, however a large influx of requests has lead to increased processing times." I made another contact through online chat on 1/14/15 and was given the same excuse. On 1/22/15 I filed a complaint with the BBB. This is the second complaint I have filed with the BBB regarding the same issue. After filing the complaint I contacted TCN online chat and informed them of the BBB complaint and was given the same response as stated above. A few hours after that contact I received this email.

I purchased the modules from The College Network awhile ago. They did tell me that they are not a university and only provide information. This information is substandard at least no matter if they do say they have very educated people writing them.

I then applied and was admitted into Excelsior college. The information that I received was not anywhere close to the information I needed if I wanted to use the moduels and only the modules to take the class.

This was a choice I made and I am ok with the money I have lost by purchasing the material The College Network gave me. I will also take the other money that I spent on exames and other infomation that I had to purchase thru Excelsior College to make it work.

I have since decided that if I am going to have to pay an actual university for information that makes sense to go to a local on in my own area.

The only thing I asked from The College Network is to refund what they have left in the exam fees I have not taken. I feel that this is my right to have the money back that has not been spent on anything. They are refusing to do anything but offer me life time credits. This is not acceptable because this money is not theirs to keep.

Never, never, never finance through them and never pay in advance for anything they have. If I would have done that than they would not have any money of mine to hold on to. Than what would they have tried to do.

The College Network is an over priced book club. They clame to be a school and then when taxes come around they clame that the IRS does not recognise them as a school. They are miss leading and untruthful. They clame to have help on hand 24/7 and it is noting close to help. They just send oyu to the reference guide over and over without answering any of your questions. I got two books and am happy to pay for the two classes and yet because they clame i will always have acess online i need to pay for it all because i am past the refund date. It would of been nice if i was notified about this refund date. If you looking on the BBB webcite there are over 100 complaints and yet nothing is being done about this so called college. How are they able to rip off so many people and get away with it.
