The Digital Pros Reviews

The Digital Pros are scammers

I bought a Nikon Coolpix 6300 and liked it so much that I decided to buy one for my ma.The store

that I bought mine from no longer carried it,so I found one at The Digital Pros for $107 and ordered it. Then I received an E-mail telling me to call to confirm my order. When I called, I was told that they needed the 3 digit security code from my credit card which I am sure I entered when I ordered.(Later on when I checked up on the customer reviews, I found a review telling the same deal about the security code that was posted about 9 months before I placed my order. This tells me that this is part of the scam, otherwise they should have had this fixed by then.)

Then I was asked what kind of battery I wanted to buy and I said that I think this kind of camera comes with a Battery. He said the Coolpix 6300 never comes with a battery, so I bought the cheaper battery. After checking out the receipt and package of my first Coolpix, I saw that it did come with a battery and since I never used the spare battery that I bought with it, I called back to cancel the battery.

When I told him that my first Coolpix came with a battery, he said that he doesn't talk out of his ass

and that the one I ordered was a Turkish model that wouldn't work with the software or battery from the one I already had, and if I wanted the American model that came with everything that it would be $149.

I should have saw what I was getting into right there and canceled the order but I didn't.

About 2 days later the camera was at the door and upon opening it I found this extra junk that I didn't order, and a receipt for $168.50 with no explanation of the $19.50 difference. When I called to question the price, I was told that it was for shipping insurance which was listed in the terms and policies(but I am sure that it wasn't shown when my original sale was rung up on line) and to check it out and call back.

I called UPS and was told that there insurance is 90 cents per $100 of purchase, but they could have insured the shipment with a third party. When I called back to tell them of UPS's Insurance rates, he said that they go through a third party. Then I just told him flat out that I had read the reviews on them and knew that they were swindling me and that I wanted the extra charge taken off or I was going to dispute it with the credit card company. He said "Go ahead, you'll lose" and that it would take about a year and if I lost there would be an extra $40 charge. Then he asked why I didn't just send it back and be done with it, that he'd send me a form and i'd have 7 days from then to ship it. Then he said that he'd take $5 off,so I said "O.K. we'll settle it at that. Then he said he'd send me an E-mail to respond to.

After thinking it over I decided to dispute it any way. If I had returned it there would have been a 15% charge which would have been more than the charge I was concerned about in the first place. And why would they pay $19.50 for shipping insurance when they could have insured it through UPS for less than $1.50.

I then called my credit card company to dispute it and canceled my card for a new one. I have since received a letter from the credit card company that the $19.50 charge had been removed and my case was considered closed.

When I decided to keep the camera I opened the box of the camera itself and saw that it was a refurbished Item which I was not informed of at the time of purchase, but I couldn't find any thing wrong with it, so I'm not going to stew about it. I'm just going to write this one off as a lesson learned to check out the customer reviews before ordering from a company that I know nothing about.

When you deal with these people they act as though they are a legitimate business of hard working people just trying to make a modest profit and you're the one with unreasonable expectations and you're just not worth the hassle of dealing with.

Thank YOU!

Thank you guys so much for posting these reviews! I am currently looking to purchase a Canon Rebel t5i and also came across their website, while looking for the best prices. Their prices were nearly 200$ less than anyone else! I was excited to see these prices, but it def put up some red flags for me! I am so glad I decided to research the company before I made my purchase! I will be purchasing through a respectable company!

Thank you for this review!!

I have not ordered from them and so glad I decided to look reviews up before making my purchase. I have wanted a camera for quite sometime now. My husband is getting me one for valentines day. I was just about to order a "new" canon rebel bundle for $584+ tax. I will be doing business else where upon reading this review. Sorry that you had bad business with this company and appreciate the time you took to worn others. You got through to me! Hope your mom liked her camera and all your troubles were with it in the end. Thanks again!

Always Reinvinting Themselves

This is the same group that I bought a Nikon D600 from a year ago, only to find that it was a 'grey market camera', not NIKON USA. Thant means that Nikon would not warranty the camera under any circumstances. When the camera had problems, they tried the same abusive tactics talked about in the rest of the reviews that you see here. I challenged the sale with my credit card company and eventually got restitution, but it was an unpleasant struggle. This company has been on the internet under many different names, but they are the same unscrupulous crowd. If you see these kinds of prices, with all of the useless, low quality 'gifts' added in, know you are being I noticed into a bargain that you will regret. I can't understand why the state of NY cannot shut these people down for good. It has been over a year since my unpleasant experience, and I am once again amazed that they have morphed again to scam more honest 'fools'...Be warned...if you buy from these people after reading all of these reviews, you can't complain when you find out that they are all true. These folks are aweful!!!

WARNING: Do NOT purchase from this company or you'll be sorry!

My husband purchased a Canon EOS Rebel T3I, he thought he was getting the best price around from this company. He wrote an e-mail to them asking about shipping and the guy from the store called him back. He promised overnight delivery to be included in the package, to insure that it would be in hands the next day (Friday), in time for our anniversary. It never arrived, my husband called that day and he promised he would have it, again, next day air (for Saturday delivery), saying the shipment was lost. My husband said "Forgot it, just cancel the order.", but the guy persuaded him by throwing in an extra battery for the camera for the inconvenience. The camera finally arrived on Monday; it was marked UPS Ground NOT next day air. I opened it up and it was missing the original Canon battery; thank God he "threw" in an extra battery for no charge. I charged the battery and guess what? That's right, the camera didn't work! The following day I called and I spoke with the same guy that my husband did. He insured that it had to be the battery, I said I want a Canon battery to be shipped, not an off brand. He promised to send two, since that was his deal to my husband. Low and behold the batteries arrived the following day, only to find neither (after being charged) made the camera work.

Every day I would call trying to get a RMA, only to find now that customer service was so busy, that I would either have to call back or have someone call me back. Don't go for the later, because they never call back! It took a week worth of phone calls to finally get someone to say that they were mailing me a RMA and that I would have to return it to them signed. Surprise, surprise, nothing arrived; it's now a week later! Today I called to let them know that I am still waiting, I was giving the run around be placed on and off of hold for 25 minutes, until lastly a guy (who I believe I was speaking to each time, but he tries to pretend that he someone else) says: "Can I help you?" I asked, "Is this some kind of a joke?! I've been explaining my problem for the past 1/2 hour." The guy replied, "I know your problem, I will send you a RMA and you can sign it, return it, and will be charged a 15% restocking fee." I lost it, I literally went ballistic on him explaining how it was never shipped next day air, that it arrived missing a battery and the camera is broken. He said that was there policy and that I'm lucky he's letting me return it after their 7-day return policy. I continued to scream, shout and at this point yell obscenities, telling him that I've been calling everyday and that it was their fault that the camera was not returned as of yet. I told him that I was returning the camera without a RMA and he told me that it better be returned by UPS to their NY address. I said don't worry it will be. He refused to give me his name. I finally hung up after my 50 minute call from hell. I immediately called my credit card to file a dispute. Then I went to UPS to send them back their camera. I asked my credit card what happens if they refuse it? They said the broken camera and credit will be mine.

Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT order anything from this company!

Scammers. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THE DIGITAL PROS

Zero stars. This is a bait and switch outfit. I ordered a Panasonic AG HMC 80 Video Camera. Confirmed the order, and they called to inform me that the camera I ordered was a European model and that if I wanted the US version it would cost $600 more. They went on to say it was plainly stated on the order form at checkout. I screen captured each step of the purchase process and after review I proved that they lied.

UPDATE: It only got worse!

After I returned my camera by UPS, with signature required, James signed for it. Digital Pros called UPS back up to refuse the package AFTER they already signed for it. They removed the camera from the box and it was returned back to me like that!

I hope Karma really works on them, this company should be put out of business! They are really scam artists. I'm sure they will even ship some poor old sole my broken camera and that person's nightmare will begin, just like mine did.

Wow, THAT was close!

Almost pulled the trigger with The Digital Pros on a Canon Rebel 5Ti that was ~$200 less than everyone else. That should have been a red flag right there, but I thought during Cyber Monday, anything's possible! Luckily I wised up and did a review search before hitting "Submit Order."

THANKS to everyone for posting these comments and knocking me back to my senses!

I was also looking to purchase a Canon rebel T5i. I emailed the company about the product; was it new or refurbished. Did it come with cables, battery, etc. That has been a few days ago and no response. I am glad I found this website and your stories. Thanks, thanks, thanks!

This is the worst companhy in the world!

I purchased two cameras from them for christmas They called and said the credit card was declined and that I had to call my bank and tell them it was OK to charge. This raised eyebrows for me, so i told them to switch to my American Express card (so my purchase would be insured against fraud). They told me that they did not accept Amex, so I proceeded to pay with my Visa. I later noticed that their website states they accept Amex. Before the camera arrived, I found them cheaper on a cyber Monday deal and called The Digital Pros. They said I could return the cameras for $120.00 restocking fee EACH plus $29.00 EACH for shiping. Obviously this is a ploy to not allow anyonbody to return items. Their fine print states a ""minimum"" 15% restocking fee but they were trying to charge me nearly 50%!! The cameras FINALLY came in the mail and they appear to be counterfit or refurbished as they were not in the manufactures box. They are in a standard white boxwith a bad photocopy of the camera glued on the front. There is no warranty card included either. Then I noticed that they charged my Visa $140.00 more than I agreed to and called them once again (by the way, their customer service is extremly rude and I can tell they get the same complaints over and over). They said the camera did not come with a battery or charger so they included the charges for me! What? First, When you purchase the camera from Olympus (and everywhere else) the battery and charger is included. Second, if they did'nt come with the battery and charger, then why were they in the box? Why did they charge me without authorization? Third, They charged $70.00 for for charger/ battery for each camera and they are not even from olympus items... They are afetrmarket brand that are not authorized Olympus products.I have argued with this company to honor their 15% restocking fee that is posted on their websitebut they won't budge!I have contacted the Better Business Bureau as well as Visa to fight these charges.

PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS FRAUDULENT COMPANY!

Thanks for the warnings!

I'm looking to buy a Nikon D5300 and these guys seem to have the lowest price online. Then I looked at their website closely and it started to appear as a phony site. By chance I went to another site AJRICHIE.com, supposedly operating from Brooklyn, NY. I googled the address and its an abandoned shop. I googled Digital Pros address and its a suburban house in Florida. When I called both the company phone numbers to inquire, they both slammed the phone on my face. Something tells me both these companies are operated by the same thugs. We have all heard that when something is too good to be true.... Guys don't be blinded by their low price bait; I know we are all after the best deals out there. Do your due diligence, research and learn about the company you plan on doing business with. Remember your brain can often confuse you and your heart can screw you up. Go with the gut feeling! If you smell a rat. chances are good it is a rat. Buy from a reputable, established company even if you have to pay a bit more, because you can never put a price on your peace of mind.

As for me, I have placed my order at a slightly higher price with a different company with whom I have done business before.

The stories i've read on others problems with this company are Identical to mine .I see an add online for a olympus camera I wanted to order They had the best price so I ordered sure wish I would have checked the reveiws of this company as close as I did on the camera. The next day after ordering got an email saying I should call a number to confirm my order when I did the said I had not put my 3 digit security code on my order Which I'm sure I did then during the call he asked why I didn't order any accesories I replied the the web sight was hard to determin how to purchase one of there specials on extra batteries he then informed me that the camera doesn't come with battery or charger a battery 5 hour battery would cost $39 and a charger was $20 if I wanted a spare one he would give me that one for $20 feeling I had no choice I ordered it then went on line to serch for battries and found on amizon 2 battries and a charge for $20 so I call back to cancel the accesoies order and he asked me why I wanted to cancel and I told him I found them on amizon for $20 and he told me those were generic battries and they have been recalled because they leak in the camera and void my warrnty. So again I let the order continue The camera arrived on Dec 2 and I opened and sure enough as I had found out on other sites the battery and charge were in the sealed olympus box with the extra battery and some other accesories that I did not know anything about were loose in the box. To my supprise ( not really) the extra battery was a generic one like amizon was selling. I retuned the camera the same day and will probly have to pay there 15% restocking fee.Lesson learned hope the credit my account and don't misuse my credit card info. Bottom line I've already ordered camera from amizon and 2 extra battries and a charge and a floating tether for $50 less . Don't let these guys rip you off I hope something is done with these scum bags soon. Edward Quincy Mi

Shame on me. I should have read the reviews and reports before buying anything from these thieves. Their ad for a Lumix DMC-FZ70 is for $199.00 with free shipping. I bought one. Then, like others, I was emailed to contact them to confirm my order. That's when they lied to me about needing to buy a battery for $44...which I agreed to. The camera came 2 weeks later and apparently I paid $288 with no breakout or explanation.

TheDigitalPros are liars and thieves and I can't believe they are still allowed to operate this scam without reprisal.

If you are considering buying anything from these ________, just RUN AWAY and buy from a legitimate business.

OMG...That was CLOSE!!!

I literally had filled out all of my personal information with the exception of the credit card info when my inner voice told me to go ahead and open another tab to see if there were any complaints against 'The Digital Pros' and I came across a bevy of sites bemoaning their purchases from these scam artists. I am so thankful I did not rush into buying the Canon S120 from this site.

Thanks for running a very necessary site!!

SCAM

Pretty much everything that has happened to the above customers happened to us. My husband ordered a Nikon 3200 from the cyber Monday specials. The package was supposed to come with a lens, tripod, remote, memory card and a few other things. Battery cost was extra. It came with just the basic box package, no lens, tripod, remote, memory card and other small stuff that was advertised in the package. Cannot get in touch with them. No response from "jerry" by phone or email. Discover has been great and is intervening for us. Lesson learned....ALWAYS check company reviews!! Stay FAR away from this company. Wish we'd seen this first.

I ordered an Olympus TG-830 from this company and was told the battery does not come with the camera. The person I spoke with told me the battery never comes with this camera anymore. This was his first lie

. When I asked if the charger came with the rechargeable battery I was told it did. This was the second lie I wass told.

When my acct was charged for the purchase the total was $100.00 more than I was originally quoted. When I contacted the company I was told this was my problem not theirs. When I said I was going to return the products they said there was a 15% restocking fee!

Total assholes

Emailed and called to tell me I did not give my 3 digit code and when I questioned that he was very rude and a total jerk! Obvious it is a scam and I will call my bank to make sure nothing was taken.

Same old story

I ordered a Nikon Coolpix P610 from Digital Pros recently at their sale price of $239. I should have known better. As the saying goes, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Same old story with security number and battery up-charge. But I did order and receive the proper Nikon battery.

I've been a customer of B&H Photo for many years and they are top-of-the-line. But their price on the P610 is $426. So I thought I'd save some coin. Well, I did save a few bucks but not much! Final statement came to $398. with a few cheap goodies included. And no U.S. warranty. A grey market item. However, it appears to be new, and I've purchased used and grey market Nikon items in the past (knowingly) and never had any problems with them. So I'm willing to take a chance on this one, but never again. Lesson learned!

Stick with B&H or Adorama if ordering on the Internet. They are the REAL pros. You get the proper equipment with U.S warranty, their prices are generally much better than you'll find in retail camera shops, and they are totally reliable!

Rip off artist

Sent them 2 emails and no response. Glad I did not purchase anything from them. If they do not answer emails before the sale, you know they will not answer after the sale!!!

Disaster Averted!

Thank the Lord I've learned to "look up" complaints on Google! This series of comments reads like a Gothic Horror Story — one that will NOT include me in the cast of characters! Goes to demonstrate Google will advertise anything that breaths, as long as they have money ...

As for the camera I wanted to purchase - going to B&H. More money; but PIECE OF MIND!

  • Feb 11, 2015

Beware: Rip off Artist

Like everyone else that ordered a camera from these crooks, I was ripped off by repeated delays in shippiing (after being told it had already shipped). Same gig...tried to sell me batteries for $49 (duh...4 AA batteries....I can handle that myself) but the idiot lied and said it takes special batteries. I called Nikon and they confirmed that wasn't true.

Last call they said 6 week delay (WTF???) so I told them to cancel the order. The guy, who has a thick foreign accent, cussed at me and said I will not get a refund.

BTW, I checked my VISA and they never billed me. My guess is that this is one or two men and my order wasn't processed by them. But it also entirely probable that they're selling your credit card info to other crooks. Cancel those cards folks!

With all these reviews (and check out other review sites including the BBB-Better Business Bureau), you'd think the attorney general would be all over this.

  • Jan 26, 2015

The state should protect its tax paying citizens.

I learned from early experiences that scammers, cheats and con artists like this outfit prey on victims who are least able to afford losing their money. These unfortunate folks are the ones who have been meticulously saving their loose change to purchase a cherished article, so they fell for the low price bait.

The attorney general is lapse for not interceding after all of these complaints. The operators should be put away so they cannot reopen with another name.

Frauds like them would have been punished and put out of business in Canada and European countries.

Thanks for posting your warnings. I nearly fell for this company but the adage of being too good to be true rings clear again with these thieves.

Grateful for all the reviews!!

I was just about to place an order with The Digital Pros. I decided to compare prices just one more time. That's when I came across this site. Thanks to all those who placed these reviews! I certainly will not be ordering the camera I want from this company!

Scam

Tried to buy a projector. After taking all the data, they told me there was a 9% charge for insurance and shipping. Total bait and switch as the site offers free shipping. I told them no insurance. I am with everyone else on this forum.

Typical New York Scammers

Unfortunately, I failed to read the reviews. Ordered a Coolpix P530 and as stated above they called and needed my 3 digit code which I had all ready provided. Then the scam started, i needed a battery, battery was 49.00 so I agreed even though I told the jerk that they were much cheaper on the internet. When I saw the amount I was charged on my card it was $55.00 more than I had figured. Called the jerk and he said it comes with a charger, i said I did not order the charger, he states I could sent what I did not want back for a refund. So, upon receiving the camera I called and he said I would have to send the whole thing back and he would send me a turkish model, I told him what I thought of his tactics and he acted like he had heard that before, false advertising, cheating the customer, easy to do when you have their money. I called Nikon and complained and they said that if I had received the turkish camera I would have not been able to use it or get parts or service. There are evil business people out there and here is a great example of one. I really do not know for sure if I have the camera I ordered or not, this company needs to be taken down. After all was said and done I could have purchased the camera straight from Nikon for the price I paid this rotten company and would have known for sure what I was receiving.

  • Dec 10, 2014

RIP OFF

Doesn't even warrant one star. I placed an order for a Fuji X20 on Monday 12/09/14 online. After not receiving a confirmation email within two days I called their number. They asked me if I wanted to purchase a battery and I said "It comes with it" and they said no it doesn't. I declined the battery, then they went on to ask me if I wanted the US or the Chinese version of the camera. I said the US version of course and that's when he said, well that's more expensive. There was not ONE thing on the website or when I placed my order about there being two different versions of the camera. What a RIP OFF! My credit card has not been charged (yet) so I hope I am in the clear since I immediately requested to cancel the order after the whole US/Chinese debacle. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THESE CROOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scammers. Why can't this website be shutdown!

They posted an ad for a T5i (model only) for $389 for black friday 2014. After I submitted the order, it took 2 days before it sent an order number and phone number to call a certain Bruce to confirm order. Fortunately I took a picture of the the order number from the computer.

When I called their hotline, it gave me a run-around stating that the model is an international model and what I needed is the US model which costs about $649 with batteries and lenses. When I said I didn't want any of that and want only the body, he started saying that it does not have anything written on it and will not come without a warranty. When I insisted that it did not say on the ads that it does not include a warranty or that it is an "international model" he kept saying the same facts about what I needed is the US model. And when I insisted that they send it anyway (I was bluffing) he said I will end up sending it back and be charge with a stocking fee. I said "yes" as long as it's brand new. He was arrogant and said he will just cancel the order. I think they never intend to send the unit. I called the credit card company to report it and fortunately it was not charged yet. But if it does then I can dispute it.

We really need to stop this kind of scam. Beside the 1-888133349215 number, they also called from (347)8214685. I think they are based in New york.

  • Nov 26, 2014

I ordered a Nikon D90 camera for $599. The next day I had a email to call the phone number and ask for Bruce. I did and was turned over to someone who told me the camera I bought was not US compatible or some such nonsense. I was told it would be $200 more for the US model. Nowhere in what I had seen on their website said this. I point blank asked if this was a scam, and I should have trusted my instincts! But I went ahead with the upgrade. I tried that evening to cancel, yesterday and this morning but their phone always says they are closed. I have notified my credit card about it and they put a dispute on my account.
