The Oil Diva Beauty & Barbershop

Floresville, Texas

From a disappointing, amateur- claiming professional, trip to the salon, to atrocious customer service and the worst experience I’ve ever encountered

After months of finding the exact hair color and style I wanted and asking people where the best place to go, I finally decided on staying local and going to The Oil Diva Beauty & Barbershop here in the downtown Floresville area of my hometown. The name actually suits her but not in the true definition of what diva means but by which we today regard as a “diva” defined by urban dictionary as; “a bitchy woman that must have her way exactly, or no way at all. often rude and belittles people, believes that everyone is beneath her and thinks that she is so much more loved than what she really is. Selfish, spoiled, and overly dramatic “. With High hopes and a big pay out I went for a drastic change of hair color from Brown to Blonde with and Ombre effect, dark on top, middle colors to the light on the bottom, all blended together. I was sure to ask my Stylist Leila Sofia De la Rosa if she was confident in this type of style in which she assured me she was and had done it many times before. Four hours and 150$ later the style was completed or so I thought. The color looked all wrong but she assured me the orange would go away with a special shampoo. With a nice distance photo of my hair everything seemed semi legit. The next morning as I was styling my hair I began to notice not just faults in the coloring but she had ruined my hair. It looked like my kid sister was the one who dyed my hair. There was no Ombre effect, the color was in a straight line around my head if I put my hair up, and in others uneven squares of color here and there and not to mention her permanent fingerprints in the color on my hair! Waiting for the 2’oclock hour, because she opens that late in the day, I went up there with hopes she could rectify this. First I checked with another stylist that was recommended to me about how to fix my hair, she explained it to me and she also stated that it looked bad. When I arrived Ms. Leila Sofia De la Rosa seemed to already have an attitude awaiting me. Claiming it was an “easy fix” although her “fix” didn’t sound like the other “fix” I was told about which started to concern me even more. She became arrogant, immature, and very unprofessional, stating she “doesn’t “give refunds” and she could fix it. I don’t do well with conflict and she was already making me extremely uncomfortable with the hostile environment she was creating with her attitude, making me not willing to trust her with my hair again, I asked for a refund. She again said she didn’t want to rectify the situation and that she isn’t worried about my complaint because “her grandmother owned the building and she manages it.” So with that self-righteous response I left the building. You would think the story ends there but sadly it doesn’t. In a world of social media she did what I would call damage control even before the storm. She panicked before I had the chance to write this review. She went on Facebook and posted on her personal and professional page the following “I will be posting pictures of the unhappy costumer later. If yall have any questions please feel free to commentJ” “There are some people in this world that will be never happy with anything you do for them, all you can do is offer to fix or correct the problem to the best of my ability, but if you don’t want my help don’t give me attitude. Just be careful of were you go next cuz they just might fry your hair off”. Getting past the grammatical and spelling mistakes I think you get the gist of this horrible business woman. Was that a threat at the end? I hope she knows Karma is real! But if that wasn’t enough of a bad experience for you it gets better. She got wind of my unhappiness, being a small town and all and decided to lie and claim I damaged her property?! I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting a psychopath but I think I just met one. With Cops at my house asking me questions about the incident! The incident is all I wanted was my money back! If you care about your hair and you love to support local businesses like I do and also care about the quality of businesses in my hometown, just know to beware of this business. I wouldn’t want anyone to go through an experience like this. Nobody should!
