When we arrived, we were given a compact car that would not even hold the passengers and luggage and were told that Expedia really gave us a "C" class car (which means nothing to us) and told that our price for this tiny car was really over $1600.00 USD, not $950.04 as stated on our reservation! So, here we are with a car that is too small for our passengers and luggage but now we are also being charged almost twice what our Expedia confirmation letter stated. The car rental said this kind of mistake is common with Expedia and it was all their fault. Our encounter was very unpleasant, and the Hertz/Thrifty agent really did not care what our problem was or if we would ever be return customers. Very unhappy in this deceptive event!
What they do when you book online is quote a low price and then refuse to honor the pricing when you arrive. They then charge your credit card over 3 times the price agreed upon.
If you complain through the booking service, they respond in gibberish and say it was your fault.
These are bad people and they need to have a class action lawsuit started against them. Evil crooks and bald faced liars.
Do not rent from Thrifty. Anyone else is 10 times better .
I rented an SUV from Thrifty in West Palm Beach. Drove it from West Palm to Charleston SC and it had a bad vibration. It needs a front end alignment or tire balance. I called Thrifty and was told to take it in to the nearest Thrifty to exchange the vehicle, so I called the Thrifty office in the Charleston airport. They told me I could not exchange it in Charleston because it's not a "corporate" Thrifty. It's a private franchise Thrifty and they do not honor corporate exchanges. So I called Thrifty 800 number and was told the closest corporate office for an exchange was in Charlotte! I asked about getting a repair and was told if I want to get it repaired while I am in Charleston, they will charge me because I didn't buy their insurance!! I paid to rent a well maintained vehicle. I should not have to pay for repairs that are not the result of an accident Where is the service? Never again! Pay the extra $20-50 and go with Hertz or Avis. The peace of mind and service are worth it!
Be aware - Thrifty/Dollar Car International Rental in Frankfurt, Germany will rip you off. It did me and many other renters.
I had a Thrifty on-line reservation for a mid-size car for 3 weeks in May 2014. Upon checking in at their Frankfurt, Germany, Airport Counter, I was told that I couldn’t use the Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) even though I presented my US issued Gold Master Card with it my paper copy of Credit Card Benefits guide. The clerk did not accept it as valid and if I wanted the rental I had no option but to accept their insurance with one of three choices of deductible. This put me into a real bind. I was already late by going from overseas arrival in Terminal 1 to their counter in terminal 2, which took well over one hour. I made a big mistake and accepted the rental with insurance, thinking I could get a later correction adjustment by Thrifty.
Needless to say, upon returning the car and upon writing to Thrifty, I got no help. This last rental (and there will be no more with Thrifty) cost me $561 more - almost double the online quote of $606. I was charged $1161 (853 Euros) for the rental, plus 826 (600 Euros) for the deductible, for the latter I was reimbursed $821 at time rental return.
Please be warned, don’t rent from this Thrifty location. It’s false advertising because their Best Rate is a trap.

I was ripped off by Thrify in Cabo San Lucas.
