Totalprotect home warranty company would not cover the cost of fixing my hot water heater, according to them my responsibility was $675.00 including deductable, this was after the service rep they sent took the unit apart and broke it beyond repair. I was made aware of this when I had a good plumber come to fix it at my own expense. This company has to be doing something fraudulent, they did not even pretent to care, and told me my policy just did not cover the entire unit. This is nonsense as the same company replaced the unit in 2008 after 9 years of use.
I have had Total Protect for about 18yrs I was very satisfied with their services until recently.I was not aware of Cross Country being affiliated until recently.Years ago when I made a claim with Total Protect pay your deductable services completed no problems. For my primary residence I had this service for years I added my rental property about a year ago.I made a claim on my rental property for a furnace Totalprotect stated to me they only pay the national average for a furnace which was $800.00 I stated where is that on the West Coast not on the East Coast they stated all they would pay was the $800.00 ok excepted.I made a claim for a water heater they sent a gentleman from a plumbing company,he stated i needed a new water heater when he called his company to ok the job they stated Total Protect said I would have to pay $304.00 I called TotalProtect and asked them why I had to pay $304.00 they said it was things they did not pay for, I asked what did they pay for they said they could not tell me that. How do I pay monthly,pay a deductable,then have to pay $304.00 where is my warranty and what are they paying for, what am I saving. I received a water heater from them several years ago at my primary home i paid a deductable new water heater no problem. Now Total protect is ripping people off because I don't see what they pay for or what you are saving. I canceled my contract with them Immediately because all I do is pay and all they do is get paid.I see no savings here anymore.
