I recently requested my Experian credit report, and was surprised to find that Trident Asset Management had reported a delinquent account in the amount of $135.00 dated December 2010. The only account that should be on my credit report is my mortgage, and that is why it took me four years to discover this fraudulent claim. I have now learned my lesson and will request my report each year from now on. I had no idea who this company was, but a quick online search produced a multitude of fraud and rip off reports against this company from people all over the country. What I could not find is a single person that had a remedy to this outrage. Rather, there are just a lot of people that have been victims of outright fraud committed by Trident Asset Management. From what I have seen, the credit reporting agencies and Better Business Bureau know perfectly well that this company is committing fraud. The BBB in Georgia has over 1,400 complaints against them, but nothing is ever done about it. Why? Why does Trident not have to conform to the laws set forth in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act that is governed by the FTC? Isn’t 1,400 complaints in one state enough for them to take a quick look and see? I live in Texas and my husband works for Experian. I tried to explain to him what is going on here, but he said the credit reporting agencies only report what they are told, that collection agencies cannot report inaccurate data, and they must report the date of the debt from the original date. I told him that is fine and dandy, but Trident Asset Management doesn’t obey the law!

There is definitely a disconnect somewhere and I find that unacceptable. That means that Trident is able to continue defrauding people of money they don’t owe by extortion; either pay up or suffer the consequences of having a rotten credit score. But even when people get fed up and pay them just to get rid of them, Trident doesn’t follow through with the credit agencies. They are also breaking the law by continuing to report the fraudulent debt, so it continues to show on a person’s credit report. It appears to me that www.ripoffreport.com is the ONLY website that is even interested in putting a stop to the fraudsters and hucksters that prey on honest, hard working citizens of this country. Is there something that can be done? Does lodging a complaint with the BBB help at all? Can complaints be lodged with the FTC or with state and county officials as well? I am more than willing to file a complaint here in Texas and in Georgia. I just need to know who to complain to. Is there anyone else here that would be willing to do so along with me?
