US Citizen And Immigration Services Reviews

I married an alien and from the start, we have been filing paperwork and fees to make everything legal. The last was for getting his visa changed from visitor/fiancee to resident. We paid an upwards of $1900 to file, went to get bio checks and fingerprints, went to doctor appointments and everything else the government requested. During this time, our mail was not being delivered and we filed complaints for this also. Of which, the post office took very personally and retaliated by staggering the mail and leaving the office when they saw us standing in line, and when I asked they sign a paper stating that we were not getting our mail - laughed at me. During this time, a letter from the USCIS came and since we were not getting mail, we did not get this important piece of mail.

I checked daily online and called the customer service number once to twice a week to make sure we had everything sorted and to find out why it was "pending" for so long. I spoke to multiple people on the hotline and always had to wait at least an hour just to get through to someone to get help. I was told Pending just meant that it was pending and these things took time and to wait patiently. I was also told to check online regarding the issue. I checked online and that only said "pending". It NEVER said due: $85. They never told me this small fee was due. This went on for 8 months. I asked why is it taking so long? Immigration continued to say that it was just pending and everything was fine. Now, I have to verify my information to speak with them so they can look at my case AND give them my case numbers.

I told them the one case number was never received so they gave it to me - which should show that they could see everything on my file and the due: $85 should have been listed. I then received a denial notice. I called immigration immediately and was told that it was denied because they did not receive the $85!!! I told them I did not know about this and no one told me. I also told them that the mail was not coming through and they told me, we put it in the mail and if you did not receive it, that is not our problem. O.O

So, I filed an adjustment and enclosed the$85 stating everything that had been going on and that I did not know about the missing fee and no one told me, not even the computer. It was rejected with a note stating that they did not feel it was clerical error. ???!!!!! They now want me to reopen the case AND file another $785! Not just $85.

I am not making much and to get my family sorted is very hard on my bank account, which is why I also filed the fee waivers, all of which were sent back, but should not have been because I fall under the poverty line. Before anyone responds saying that well you poor people are just trying to get something for nothing, let me reiterate - I have filed all forms and spent well over $1k to keep my family together.

This is why there are a lot of illegals because they cannot get the proper information. I have even asked Robin from Congressman Joyce's office to aid me. She said that I would receive word back within 15-30 days. I called back and now it is 30-45 days and still no response from Immigration. This is absolutely horrible. I always thought that when you married an American Citizen, you became legal near immediately. I even read in the paper that a bunch of illegals are upset and want their citizenship right away because they fought for OUR army!! You cannot even join the army without proper paperwork and s.s. numbers! How the hell they accomplish that one.
