Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles Reviews

I lost my license and ordered a new one online. My error was forgetting to transfer the correct amount of money into the account I was using so the payment was denied. I received a message from my bank saying the payment was declined and I would have to reinitiate it with the company I tried paying.

I went online and placed a new order for a replacement. Then both charges ended up going through. Instead of $20 for my replacement I was charged $40 with two separate transactions. I figured, oh no problem, they'll understand the error and refund the $20.

The customer service representative informed me that 'because it is two separate transactions, there's nothing we can do.' I asked her why she can't just cut a check and send it to me. She said, 'The charges go to a third party and we have no control over them.' I asked her who the third party is and she said I cannot contact them. I was just dumbfounded. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that the supervisor is out today and she'll leave my number for her.

This is completely unacceptable. If the DMV has their system set to automatically try to withdraw the money again after it has been declined, this needs to be clearly communicated to me. I did not receive anything from the DMV about the failed charge and the customer service representative did absolutely nothing to try and help my situation. She just dismissed me outright and said, 'sorry, you initiated both charges so there's nothing we can do'.

The lack of reasonable thinking is unbelievable. I can't imagine the amount of people that just give up and let them take their money for no reason.
