Many people have been reporting lately of a new scam online where purchasers or downloaders of Austin Powers movies are getting more than they bargained for. A file embeded within the Movies is actually a renamed version of a XXX porn parody "Austin Powers XXX: A Porn Parody (Vivid) XXX "
This has been replaced with several copies of actual Austin Powers movies with this companies Porn Parody. For the sole purpose of them claiming you downloaded their property without their permision and threatening to sue you. Some people have even decided to send them a settlement offer to avoid the fake claim of a lawsuit.
Beware of these emails. If you do not recieve a legal legitimate email from your internet service provider then it is a scam. This is how offshoot companies make their money. This is a small business created fan movie and they do not make their money by any other way but scamming people. Many people receiving these emails seem to think that it is a actual lawsuit being filed against them. This is untrue and people out there need to be careful. There is no legal way for them to do this to you. And to inform you of a pending lawsuit in a email is not legal. It is considered a threat. Do not respond to them and defenitly do not respond with any personal information. The only way they got your email and IP was they traced it through the illegal embeding of their movie into real movies. Many people trying to get a legal copy of movies are stuck with this instead.
If you receive any email like this claiming to be a company trying to sue or threatening to sue you for copyright infringement please ignore them. They are a scam company out to get your money. There is nothing legal they can do to you. Because on their end they are already breaking the law by sending you emails with threats of charging you money. Simply delete any Movie you have received or downloaded that has been illegaly changed to this Movie or any other movie by Vivid and that is all you need to do. They can take no other legal action against you. There is currently a online pettition in action against them for their illegal activities. I am certain there are other companies out there doing the same thing. Any suspicious email you receive claiming copyright infringement disregard and do not respond and delete. Any actual legal copyright infringement done will be served in official documents to you. Never through your email.
