Something Fishy

the same thing happed to me. As soon as I called it did not sound like a normal quiet cubicle type of job place. I heard a lot of other voices in the background almost like he was outside or something. I could barely hear the first man's voice let alone understand him. Soon I was transferred to his supervisor.

after the supervisor showed me how the problem was with my network and not my device(s) - or Google - he said he would connect me with Right Help Center. RHC, I must say had a pretty convincing looking website.I hung up after asking a lot of questions and their "supervisor" working very hard to keep me on. I even called Microsoft and asked some of the worked about how legit the website was. after what I told Microsoft, they told me it could go either way.

I have to include that both Viptechies and righthelp asked for and got remote access to my computer and that's how they were able to be so convincing.

I was having problems with my new gmail account and search for a phone number. I did not realize until now that Gmail does not have a phone number and this was a 3rd party. It does disclose that on its website.

Jerry Smith, an Indian man but using an American name so people could understand it he said, had a job id number(161290) so I thought it was legitimate at first. I told him the problem and he came on my computer. He said my email had been hacked/comprimised but also that the hackers had my ipaddress which he said could not be changed. Jerry said the hackers had control of my computer and all other electronic devices like smartphones and ipads that we were using in my home. He said that they were intercepting my emails and monitoring everything we did. Jerry said that my firewall wasn't protecting me from this now because they already had control of my computer. He said it came from opening a pop up window.

Jerry said not to do any banking until this was fixed. He said that the only way to fix it was to transfer my call to a 3rd party provider called Right Help Desk or One Source Tech. If I did that and paid them it would be $99 less and only cost $249.99 since he had run the diagnostics. He then transferred me to them but I declined their services. He was polite but very insistant.

After doing some research I found out that my computer had not been hacked nor my ipaddress stolen. This was 100% a scam!
