I went to Kmart because of an add I had seen for a lease to own program they were doing , I purchased a 500 dollar computer , paid 89 dollars down plus one payment of 33.00, they told me they would continue to take 33.00 every two weeks for 5 payments out of my account, the kmart employee never told me that I would have to buy out the product for over 200.00 after the five weeks . What he said was I would have the oportunity to buy out the product after five payments or continue to lease until it is payed off, well that is not how this program works you continue to lease and non of the money you have paid goes toward the balance of the total price. You could pay the bi weekly payment until the end of your lease then are forced to either return the item of pay a large amount to buy it out. At this point in time I have paid more than triple what the value is of this item, and if I buy it out now it will end up being more than 5 times the value. How is this right that this company can get away with doing this ??? They way they set up this payment schedule is confusing to people and you end up paying for months before you realize you are not getting any where with the payments.

I got a letter in the mail from this company saying I was approved for 1100.00 dollars in merchandise, all I needed to do was go to the store and purchase the items I wanted. So I go to K Mart to purchase a recliner with this line of credit. Ok seems easy enough, purchase my item put my down payment on the item. Then I am prceded to be told it will be bi weekly payments, not monthly. Ok first strike, but I can deal with that. So now I have been paying between 11 and 14 biweekly for this recliner for about 5 months. So I inquire about the pay off and seeing the item was only 170.00 dollars and I pretty much have paid that already. Needeless to say I am advised my pay off is 93.27, WHAT!!! I already paid the 170.00 for the chair, it should be paid off. I was advised by the CS rep that because I am leasing the item I pay more for the item then what the store charges. No where, I mean no where does it state this in any of the paperwork I have or received from this company. S So now they are set up to take funds out of my account via ACH debit every 2 weeks, which I was not happy about either, because they do not tell you that until you purchase the items. I am going to be paying over almost 300.00 dollars for a 170.00 chair. There is a minimum term that once you reach 5 months you can buy the lease out, which I have reached, but unless I give them another 93.27 the chair is not paid for. Any other leasing company gives you a discount if you pay the item before the end of the lease. I refuse to pay more for a chair then what it is worth! My other option is to return the chair, which means I am out the chair and my money. This company is the biggest SCAM there is, stay away and this will be a lesson learned. I will never deal with this company again, I will either buy the items outright or not at all. I will be contacting my bank to see what I can do to block there charges, to me this is a fraud and misleading people with credit issues.

I lease a portable air-conditioner for $435.92. To date, I have paid $729. I understood that the payments would be taken from my checking account bi-weekly, on the assigned dates setup by WNL program. In agreement to the dates and the amount to be electronically deducted from my account each month, I was very shocked when I discovered that my account would be electronically drafted for 18 months unless I paid the WNL program an extra $239, which is what is called a buy out amount, which technically I have already paid.

I contacted the WNL program and was told that my account would be drafted each month for an additioanl $218 unless I could pay the buy out amount or until the end of the 18 month term. I was under the impression that the assosiates were not knowledgeable of the program or they were told to mislead customers about the payment plans. I was also told by a representative that i could either pay the buy out amount or I could return all the items.

This is a complete RIP-OFF and these people are CROOKS! Do not use!

rip off lease it

I signed up for why not lease it in Dec. 2013 at my local kmart. As many people are replying about there experience with the program I too am suffering the same. It is a huge scam and rip off I rather do to national rent to own or rent a center to rent to own merchandise for those who are considering doing this as a easy way to not pay for your products don't do it you will remain in the hole even when I updated my credit card which had a credit limit of 1000 on it and it expired they still had my debit card on file and withdraw of over 200.00 out of my checking account... "RIP OFF" this is the biggest scam yet and they really need to do something about this. They call all day long but it takes me over 2hrs to even get to a live person smh what a crook of S-H-I-T... excuse my french!!!!!

You think your protected by the outrageous lease contract but believe me you are at their mercy. They set up automatic payments with your checking accounts and they keep taking money from you even after you made all your lease payments on time and then they rake you over the coals in order to buyout your items. when you look in your bank account and see that they withdrew you payment then two days later they take it out again. If you ask for your money back so your account will not be overdrawn they say no we don't do that but will give your account a credit! Then I make my last buyout payment thinking it's all over while waiting for them to send your receipt of ownership that they said takes 30 more days. I find the next month they take another payment from your checking account that you did not authorize. I call and ask them to return my money and am told they will put my name on some board on the wall for accounting and may take another 30 days.

I saw the why not lease it at Sears and we really needed a new matress so I thought this would be the best route. I understood I would make bi-weekly payments for about 5 months then we could buy it out or continue on the lease. So when I checked my balance and a month later it still hadn't gone down I called them. The guy told me that unless I bought it out I would be responsible for 18 more months of payments which was about another $2,200 for a bed that was just under $1,000!!!! Are you serious. I asked what happened to the 3 payments I made and he told me it did not go towards what I owed but towards that 18 months. That is ridulous, that to me is fraud to charge people double the value of something.

I set up a lease at my local Sears through WhyNotLeaseIt for an xbox one. I then decided I also wanted a tablet so they cancelled the 1st lease and set up a second one. On the 1st lease I made a credit card payment for 92.44. This was debited immediately and I also made a payment for the second lease. This was Dec 1.

Here it is Dec 11th and they tell me it will be another 7-10 business days b/c this lease is still open. Then the refund will be mailed not credited to my account. This is AFTER I've called at least 5 times this week. The first time I was supposed to get a refund in 24 hrs. Then 7-10 business days, now an additional 7-10 business days. Dnt use these guys, I should have just gone to Rent-To-Own, at least they are straightforward.

I'll never use this service again and now have to go through the lengthy process of calling my bank and have them dispute the charge b/c as it looks, if they didn't lie to me AGAIN, they will mail a check Dec 25 (probably 26th) for something I returned Dec 1. So it looks like I'll get my refund around January. Unacceptable.

WHEN there comes to be a class action suit against this company, I will be joining in. Thanks to their ignorance I am unable to make my cilco payment so although I have a new xbox I'll be sitting in the dark.

Thanks Why Not Lease It. If this doesn't help you see why not lease it, I dnt know what will.

This is my first experience leasing an electronic or anything else for that matter. I decided to purchase a television from Sears with their leasing program called “WHY NOT LEASE IT” after I read about them over the internet. I called a Sears associate for more information and she explained how the leasing processed worked. After thinking about it I decided it seemed like the sensible thing to do this time around rather than fork out the whole dollar amount for the television I could do monthly payments and then buy out at the end of my lease period.

In the beginning everything was going fine with the lease agreement. After the initial installment paid at the store, WHY NOT LEASE IT charged me the agreed amount of $80 at the end of each month. For the first three months there was no problem, but at the end of the 4th month is when it all changed.

On the 5th of November, I was contacted by an employee from “WHY NOT LEASE IT” stating that the previous attempts to collect the monthly payment for October had failed. I was surprised because there was absolutely no reason the payment would have been declined. It should have processed successfully like the previous 4 payments. I had looked at the online bank statement prior to going outside to work that same morning and saw that the payment seemed to be going through as scheduled.

I acknowledged the associates statement and replied to him that prior to making another payment for the monthly $80 dollars and the additional $25 return fee I wanted to verify his claim on my online bank statement, but he reassured me that there was no successful payment for the month of October. So I accepted that there might have been an error on my banks part. So I scheduled the payment moments later with the WHY NOT LEASE IT employee.

Afterwards I went online to double check what had happened, and I discovered that for the month of October WHY NOT LEASE IT had overcharged my account by $165 dollars not including the first successful payment made to them. The overall charge for the month of October was $265, which included 3 monthly payments of $80 and return fee of $25.

Moments later I’m on the phone contacting “WHY NOT LEASE IT” to inform them about the overcharges made to my account. In the beginning everything seemed ethical and professional like any other organization I have ever dealt with. The WHY NOT LEASE IT employee took my claim into account or at least it appeared that way. He told me I just needed to fax my bank statement to their customer service office. He continued on telling me what information needed to be on the fax so that they could find fax and link it to my account.

I did as instructed. I put all the necessary information pertaining to my account on the fax cover page and faxed everything to their customer service fax. I contacted WHY NOT LEASE IT the next Monday to get confirmation that they received the fax. The associate told me that they had not received the fax pertaining to my bank statement.

At this point I’m still not concerned about the ethics of this company. It was Friday when I had my girlfriend fax them the information. I was in the middle of working, so I couldn’t fax them the information personally. I contacted my girlfriend and had her resend the fax to the WHY NOT LEASE IT customer service offices. Then I called back as instructed about fifteen to twenty minutes later only to find out that they had not received my fax. This happened three more times before I finally got verbal confirmation that they received my fax. The associate continued to say that it would take a period of 7 to 10 days for them to review my information and that then they would refund the overcharged amount of $165. He also pointed out that I would receive emails concerning this case, which I never received. Communication is not on their agenda.

After all the lost faxes and conflicting stories I received from each individual I spoke to while contacting WHY NOT LEASE IT, I decided to check with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) web site regarding this business practices and discovered some serious red flags concerning unethical practices.

If I had only researched WHY NOT LEASE IT with Better Business Bureau prior to making this business transaction, I would have steered clear from engaging in any business transactions with this company. But there is no turning back now I’m already invested nearly $700 dollars on this TV that cost less than $500.

Once the allotted time passed I contacted WHY NOT LEASE IT looking to get an update on my refund and was once again was told that they had not received my fax. I refuted his claim and assured him I had gotten verbal confirmation that they had received my fax. He rechecked his information and had no choice but to yield to that fact after finding the fax information. I also pointed out that I have yet to receive any email regarding my case, and he did nothing to explain that fact. But he told me it would another week before the reviewed my information.

Now on the 1st of December, I contacted WHY NOT LEASE IT to get another update on my refund and the employee tells me I’ll get my refund at the end of the week. By this time I’m no longer amused by this devious company’s unethical practices. But I have no choice but to wait until the end of this week.

As expected by the end of the week there is no refund and now I have no choice but to wait until Monday before I can contact them again. The coming Monday contact WHY NOT LEASE IT only to find out that the refund has been denied. At this point I’m a bit upset and begin saying some things I rarely say to anyone. I really try to deal with problems in respectful and professional manner but at this point they have wasted enormous amounts of my time in addition to the theft of $165. I say theft because the money was paid to them from my bank account and WHY NOT LEASE IT does not acknowledge that the received the payments.

After talking to the supervisor, I find myself resending the fax information, which includes not only my bank statement but a payment history directly from the WHY NOT LEASE TI.COM web site. The payment history from WHY NOT LEASE IT shows three decisive points against this organization shady behavior.

The first point substantiates what WHY NOT LEASE IT stated to me the first time they contacted me. The payment history from WHY NOT LEASE IT shows that the first payment got declined as they had previously stated. However, my bank statement plainly shows that that was not the case proving that there must be glitch in there system. My payment was processed successfully and paid in full from my account.

The second payment however shows a very different story. On the WHY NOT LEASE IT payment history, it shows that it was processed successfully without any problems and that it was paid in full. Yet WHY NOT LEASE IT contacted me claiming that they had not received my payment and scheduled a third payment, which included the monthly payment and a return fee totaling $105.

Consumer beware a disturbing factor about this company is that there seems to be two entities collecting the payments. After carefully looking at my bank statement, I discovered that there are two entities collecting the payments, which might explain the variation in stories I received each time I contacted WHY NOT LEASE IT. Some of the payment withdrawals are made by “WHY NOT LEASE IT” and others are withdrawn by “WHY NOT LEASEING LLC”. This company seems to run a stray from good customer service.

In hindsight, I come to learn the value of an educated business transaction. Before doing business with any other company or organization, I’ll first use the power at my disposal such as the Better Business Bureau web site and other resources available online.

I have never filed a complaint before, but I felt compelled to inform consumers so that they could better protect themselves. While researching the Better business bureau, I discovered many red flags concerning this business. Good customer service is not at the top of their list.

If you choose to use their leasing program, be sure to read the lease agreement thoroughly and get to know your rights. The lease agreement clearly states that at the end of your lease agreement you have the 3 options. The 1st is to set up another lease term, which I believe happens automatically without consent from what I have read online. The 2nd option is to return the item to WHY NOT LEASE IT, which is bit more complicated because you have to mail the item to them rather than return it to the store of purchase. The third is the buyout option. This option will not occur unless the buyer requests it.

As the consumer you should also be informed that WHY NOT LEASE IT will not contact you when the end of your lease agreement comes to fruition. They’ll be happy to continue collecting your hard earned money until you the consumer comes to his sense about his options regarding the merchandise.

On the Better Business Bureau there is an alert for this company about its business practices! There are over 350 complaints against this company regarding billing and collection practices and more.

As consumer I understand that you shouldn’t always believe what you see or read, but you have the ability to research these claims. You don’t have to take my word for it. Simply go to the BBB and look for yourselves about WHY NOT LEASE IT business practices. The credit score for WHY NOT LEASE IT is a D+, which demonstrates its devotion to its customers.

I have shared my story and informed you the consumers a little about the practices of this unethical business called WHY NOT LEASE IT or WHY NOT LEASEING LLC with the hopes that other will not have to suffer may fate as well. Now you as the consumer have the choice whether get in bed with this organization (metaphorically speacking) or avoid it altogether to be one less victim.

Why Not Lease It program through Sears is not necessarily a ripoff, I just want buyers to beware for future reference. They are just as bad as AArons or Rent a Center if not actually worse. I went to Sears to bought a $ 1,179 tv and I looked at the payments which were 98 dollars bi-weekly which is fine. What they dont tell you is that once your finished making the ten payments( which mines total 990) you can buyout your contract or continue to lease for 18 months.

This was deceptive because they made me believe it was a pay the tv off, kinda of payments, well its not its more like a pay 1800 dollars for $1,179 dollar tv. They want me to buy out my tv for 643 after I have paid 1,179 (thats including the 98 dollar payment). Where this is a ripoff is that you cant buy out of your lease until 10 months after the minimum payment. They force you to pay at least the cost of the product before you can buy out of your contract which is a complete ripoff in my eyes. Im not even sure Rent-A-center follows this practice, if so, this will be my first and last time with a leasing program

I signed up for Y not lease it In the KMART store In December 2013. I asked the individual as I signed up would I pay anything extra? Or just my payments to pay this off. Of course you cannot see the contract at the time you are signing up it is late sent to you. I then called the company Y NOT LEASE IT, to clarify that I would not be charged anything extra I would pay 79.00 monthly payment until the 350.00 balance was paid and then the payments would be over, This was on a recorded line, I called to ask again as a family member told me that they lied in the store, that it is not paid off by paying 79.00 monthly until you reached the balance of your lease in my case 350.00. Twice, I asked for the truth about this contract and was given the same info. Both times was misrrepresentation, as of today I have paid a total of $948.00 and stil owe 231.00 this is much more than the 350.00 I was told I would be paying for the products I purchased in December 2013.

I am considering filing a class action on this issue.

These connivers conned me into signing a Ponzi scheme, I have been a victim of corporate thuggery , not to mention bigotry, and biased belittlement. entropy on all hands and whilst reevaluating the indenture, I find the policy enigmatic, it appears that the article is amiss... Quite unorthodox for such a reputable company, I shall notify the better business bureau posthaste!

We are seniors and our hot water heater went out right before a major cold storm hit us. We went to Sears and he offered this program. Since we had no money, our SS checks have not came in yet.

They would debit from our bank account and we requested and it was documented that they would debit the payment only at the 1st of the month because we live on our social security checks.

The company did not care, they took the payment out anytime they wanted making our account overcharged at times. I requested 4 times that they debit it then. Told them why each time. I have emailed them, called them and tried to get on the website account for us. No one would rectify that problem.

This month they took out 2 payments at one time and they called after 8am this morning and told up with a threat that they are taking 300.00 out way over the payment of 75.00

Everyone you talk to is very rude and hateful.

We are seniors and we did not buy something for pleasure we had no hot water which is a neccessity in life. With medical issues we could have died that night in the cold.

I have all my life trusted Sears and when they offered this program we felt safe with it. Now Why Not Lease It is stealing from us.

Back in late November 2013 while employed by a "Why Not Lease It" affiliate, I thought I would take advantage of what sounded like a great deal.

I was approved by "Why Not Lease It" for up to $400 for whatever I wanted to use it for. While I had applied at Kmart, I was able to go to Sears to use my approved lease amount.

As it states, "Why Not Lease It" means exactly that... you don't end up owning anything! About a month after starting my lease, I realized this. So I decided I would contact "Why Not Lease It" to have the exercise equipment picked up once my contract was fulfilled. This was mid March 2014.

After an email to "Why Not Lease It" in regards to ending my fulfilled contract and picking up the equipment, I was informed I would be charged my bi-weekly payment. I called "Why Not Lease It" to ensure the payement was stopped and to make arrangements for a pickup of the equipment.

While I was not charged, "Why Not Lease It" claimed to have called to make an appointment in order to pickup the equipment, this never happened.

Almost 90 days later, I was charged and unfortunately this put my bank into overdraft. I called and had the charge reversed but the bank was not at fault, thus I was out almost $50.

It's been almost a month again since any contact from "Why Not Lease It", I suspect I will be charged on short notice and at this point I have taken steps to start a class action law suit.

They are short on the phone and seem to have no interest in making the customer happy.

During Christmas of 2013, I was in Kmart Supercenter in Memphis Tn. when i was informed by a sales associate about a program called Why not lease it program. Interested in saving money, I went to the customer service desk to get more information about this program.

After standing in line for almost 15 minutes, I was redirected to yet another line and was told that i would have to apply for a line of credit to see how much I would qualify for. In doing so, I qualified for $800 of instore credit through the Wht not lease it program. I spoke with sales associate and was informed that that amount or less had to spent in Kmart before the expiration date printed on the bottom of the receipt. I was also imformed that the amount spent would be the amount i had to pay back.

Well, I was able to get my kids the things they wanted with a little money saved. I was very thankful!! I understood that the payments would be taken from my checking account bi-weekly, on the assigned dates setup by WNL program. In agreement to the dates and the amount to be electronically deducted from my account each month, I was very shocked when I discovered that my account would be electronically drafted for 18 months unless I paid the WNL program an extra $350.00, whoch is what is called a buy out amount.

I contacted the WNL program and was told that my account would be drafted each month for $105 unless I couls pay the buy out amount or until the end of the 18 month term. I was under the impression thaat the assosiates were not knowledgeable of the program or they were told to mislead customers about the payment plans. I was also told by a representative that i could either pay the buy out amount or i could return all the items. So rude
