XSport Fitness Reviews

A few years ago I purchased 40 personal training sessions from my local Xsport Fitness gym at a bulk discount price. I was told that I could transfer some of the personal training sessions to another member as a gift which I had planned on doing for my girlfriend at the time. I was told that the personal training sessions never expire. They said that since personal training sessions dont expire, that corporate could add unused sessions back to my account if I had to cancel and wanted to sign back up again in the future. All of these statements made me comfortable in purchasing such a large amount of personal training sessions at the same time. I ended up joining my girlfriends gym not too long after which she liked better so I cancelled my membership at Xsport Fitness since I was told the sessions never expire and that they could be re-added back to my account after I rejoin the gym in the future. I only ended up using 1 personal training session so I had 39 left.

I rejoined Xsport gym in the fall of 2014 and so I asked for the personal training sessions to be added back to my account. They said the sessions had expired. I figured if that was the case, even if I was told otherwise at the time of purchasing the sessions, that the language would be on my contract. So I asked for a copy of my contract. Theys aid that they didnt have a copy of my contract on file. After a few conversations like this someone finally agreed to add the sessions back to my account and I was happy. But then I had to move to California for work. My sister moved into my condo. I asked Xsport if I could give my personal training sessions to her and they said yes. My sister also asked them if I could transfer my sessions to her if she signed up and they said yes. However, once she signed up and I moved to California, Xsport then said I couldnt transfer my sessions to her. Both my sister and I called customer service multiple times and talked to different customer service people who said they dont allow personal training sessions to be transferred to other members. I asked repeatedly to speak with a manager and was told that they were too busy.I was told on two separate calls that a manager would call me back within 24 hours but they never did.

My sister got fed up with dealing with them and cancelled her membership. I then called to cancel mine and was told that the other customer service reps were misinformed and that I should be able to transfer my sessions and that a manager would call me back within 24 hours. However, again, I never received a call from a manager (for the third time) and had to mail a paper letter to the Xsport corporate office to get my account cancelled sicne they dont cancel accounts over the phone.

I am pursuing a full refund for my 39 unused personal training sessions since there is no Xsport location in California for me to use the sessions at and they didnt let me transfer my sessions as promised.

A few months ago I went to xsport fitness to get a year membership & I did my payment I full. With that they told me that since I was a brand new member to the gym they would give me a free personal trainer session. I went the next day to get started, they knew I was there to tone up my body not really to loose weight.

I did my session with the personal trainer Robert at Elmhurst, It was very intense & I was throwing up so I told him to stop for the day. He then continued to talk about if I wanted the personal trainer & I told him no because I have a very heavy job that requires me to lift & be on my feet all day plus nursing school ontop of that. i have been to the hospital these past few years because my back is not able to take that much training. So then he mentioned that if I wanted to tone up and see results that I should atleast signed up for 4 training session for $135 because that was the special going on.

I had gone to the washroom again cus I felt sick & told him I would think about it because I wasn't feeling good that day & had to check if I would be able to afford it. He then said that if I atleast wanted to get the paperwork ready so If I wanted it to go in or give him a call & tell him! I said yes to getting the paperwork started, but little did I know it was a contract he had me signed.

I tried to contact xsport & they will always put me on hold & or tell me he was busy with a training session when I saw that xsport had taken money from my bank account! I then went in & asked him why he did that & all he said was he was sorry miscommunication. I never have him the okay to process that contract! When I last saw him I told him I would personally go in and let him know if I wanted the 4 training sessions or not. He then gave me the card to call & cancel.

I then sent out a letter from my doctor & so I called again letting them know I wanted to cancel they said they couldn't do that, they could only freeze my accounts this is a fraud, first off he didnt process a contract for 4 training session but for 12!! He changed the paperwork & I never got a copy of my contract either! As a nursing student I wouldn't ever agree to 12 training session due to the fact that I don't have the time or money for it! Im in a very difficult position because they have about 600 dollars, they have my account frozen & I havent been to contact them! They have my doctors notes & they still can't cancel my training sessions!

I honestly don't know if this is a standard practice for gyms, but in order to cancel a membership, the member must send a letter via certified mail. With the technology available to us in 2015, this is nothing less than ludicris and obviously designed to retain customers. It would be easier for me to simply cancel the card associated with the account.

Wanted to try Xsport gym using there guest pass but they told me that I wont lose any money if i sign up for the memebership as i can cancel it anytime i want and get the refund. I thought it's good to have this money back guarantee. During sign up they added some personal training sessions for me and charged me for that. I was happy to try and under an impression that If i'll have to cancel it I'll get all my money back.

But when i requested to cancel my membership they told me to contact there corporate office and send them a letter. I did so wondering how come at this age they are dependent on letter and all. But they signed me up without any hassel at the gym. After sending the letter they didn't refund me anything. Even I was charged for next month as well including personal training sessions. I was shocked to see that. Then called them twice and they returned my latest month membership charges only. No personal training session refund (1st & 2nd Mon) and no membership charges from 1st month.

I contacted them about this and they told me a nice story about what's in there agreement and I have to cancel training session 3 days after siging up. They have different policy for training & membership's. Really felt trapped in their hand and not able to get my money back. Even after membership cancellation they are charging me monthly for my training session.

I didn't take any session and felt cheeted. They are doing scam on the name of personal training session. I have reviwed many complaints about them on the internet and I am not alone who faced this situation. I even never opted for long term commitment but have to pay them. Really searching a way to get my money back.

My friend and I signed up for group training sessions together for three months and as month to month for these three months. We had our free session with one female trainer (trainer a) and then set up our next one that we had paid for. Unbenownst to us this would be our last session with her. For the first month it was nothing but her canceling on us at the last minute literally it would be our scheduled time and she would cancel. She then told us that she could not take us amg gave us to train with a co-worker (male trainer b) we had one session with trainer b. Again this trainer would cancel on us as we were walking in the door! It then got to the point that he no longer respond to our attempts to reschedule. I called corporate to complain and inquire about getting refunded for my unused three months of training sessions and was told to send a letter to their facility and I should receive a refund. I called a week and a half later after no response and was told to contact the manager at the location I was at. Upon speaking with him it sounded like he was going to help us in our complaint as their trainers were the one who breeched the contract! He offered another trainer but by this point my friend and I were fed up and just wanted our money back. It was supposed to be a summer thing as she is in school and I work more hours in the fall. I called corporate again and all the response I got was that it wasn't a medical issue they couldn't help me. Are you kidding me. Because your trainers messed up I am now out $300 that is so wrong on many levels! I have done nothing wrong and because your trainers are unable to keep a commitment I have to pay for it! This does not seem right. Overall training sessions at Xsport are a scam!

I signed up under the promise that I have nothing to lose. The salesperson, Dan, asked for a month membership fee when I asked for the free trial they advertised and he said that I have a money back guarantee if I don't like it. This turned out to be a rip-off since they refused to give the money back when I did not like the place. Instead they said I should write by mail to their corporate headquarters and wait for their approval for the refund.
