This company sent me a deceptive form asking me to claim a listing with them. I filled out the form in error thinking I was claiming a free listing. I received a bill for $327.00 a month later. I contacted the customer service multiple times and they refused to help. I was also contact by email several times asking for payment and I told them that I made an error. They refused to help as well. I am now being contact by an attorney telling me that I have to pay for this.

I have made every effort to contact the company and even told the lawyer that this was an error and they are not prepared to do anything about it.

Scam

Ypedia tried to rip us off also , same story , they need to be shut down

  • Sep 10, 2014

Same as all other posters. I was sent the 'This Is Not A Bill' deceptive piece of mail asking to verify information for their free listings. I was unaware there was a whole page of fine print on the back that they claim was there and that by signing it I signed up for a year of advertising.

Called and asked about sending the fine print I signed which I never received, also sent in the two bills asking for a copy of what I signed which I never did. Now I'm being threatened with collections agency if I dont pay. Current letter states all late fees will be waived if I pay.

This scam site is horrid, deceptive and filled with lies. As soon as you see the envelope with Yellow Pages Online Services from Irving,TX immediately place it in the trash. If push comes to shove I will gladly go to court over this scam.

We recieved an email from this company stating we owed them $327.80 for advertising in their directory. The email stated that it had to be paid or it will go to collections. I never requested the listing in the first place and I requested they remove the listing because I am no longer interested in their services.

They operate a low quality website with no pagerank, very low trust and a low citation score. The link from their website will do more harm to your rankings than it will do good.

This is a scam. There website makes no mention of there being any charge and it specifically implies the listing will be free. However, we record all submissions we make to online directories and we never submitted our website to this directory.

Like others, I received a mailer from the Yellow Pages marked "Not a Bill" asking me to confirm details of my new business listing. On the back was fine print I did not see, saying that if I signed, I was committing to an email marketing plan and they would charge me $329 every 6 months.

Once I realized that these guys were a bunch of soulless scammers, I called the number listed on the mailer to cancel, but that number was disconnected. Next thing I know, Malvnin Sando, from YPedia is calling me and emailing me trying to collect and threatening my company with large fees. This is a scam and they are pathetic. Now they have "collections" calling me, which other sites have indicated is really just their in-house people calling and threatening other small business owners.

They will never get a penny from me and if they call again, I will call the Attorney General and BBB for Texas, where they are located.

It seems that I am not the only one who is a victim here. Yellow Pages Online Services is a complete scam! Do not fall for their tactics. Just as others here have posted, I received something in the mail advertising for a free online ad. Being a new business, I was all for it.

A couple of weeks later, I got an invoice for $300+. I did not submit a payment since I was not spending that much money for an ad. I looked into it closer and realized it was not even associated with Yellow Pages at all.

A month or so later, I get another email stating I owe them late fees and if I do not pay, it will go to collections. I spoke with "Malivin" as well. He claims to be a resolution manager. The resolution would be for them to stop scamming people.

Do not let these people threaten you with collections. They are a scam and looking for people who are willing to fall for it. I hope this report helps those of you out there who may get a call from these scammers.

I received a letter from YPedia which had written on it "This is Not a Bill" claiming it was confirming by business listing. Soon after, I received an invoice stating that my account was past due! Now they have a collections agency contacting me regarding my account that I never created.

This is such a scam. I am contacting the BBB and the Attorney General of the state of Texas.

yellow pages online service scam

Same as all the rest thought I was setting up my free listing for my new business on their letter that stated this is not a bill. Received the invoice the following month and they refuse to cancel the service and are threatening with collections. I do not know how these companies are allowed to continue these practices. It is misleading and very unfortunate.

We are a small business and have been recieving harassing emails, phone calls and letters about an outstanding invoice from a company posing as Yellow Pages. They have a sophisticated website www.ypedia.com . I spoke to the real Yellow Pages and was instructed this is a fraudulant company and a scam. Our information has since been passed to a company posing as a collections agency for Yellow Pages by the name of Davis & Jones, Inc. Specifically being harassed by a "Jaasan Sanford" who has a fake LinkedIn profile as well.

THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD.

This company sent my client a letter asking him to verify his listing information on his business. He did not read the fine print (that he needed a magnifying glass to see) that stated he was agreeing to a $300 plus dollar contract for 6 months. When he contacted them, they told him they would send him to collections. As an advertising agency, I was hoping to help. So I contacted them myself. They yelled and screamed on the phone and hung up on me. The listing is not enhanced, as they promised it would be. But my client never sent information to be enhanced because he doesnt want the listing. The ypedia.com site has no site traffic, can not be found online, their Facebook has 24 likes, the bad reports are endless. The negative reviews are endless. THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN.

Received something in the mail from "Yellow Pages Online Services" with an almost identical logo to the real Yellow Pages. They sent me a piece of mail that said "this is not a bill", asking me to verify that our company information was accurate or I could "list with changes". I selected "list with changes" because we just moved offices.

I received notification from Davis & Jones who are representing YPedia (aka Topaz Promotions aka Yellow Pages Online) saying that $361.90 was due and to please pay before the matter "goes any further". They even sent me a copy of the "contract" which was actually just a piece of mail with their fake Yellow Pages look-a-like logo and me asking them to correct my listing - as if I already had one with them.

I'm obviously not going to pay, but I am interested in filing a class action suit if anyone else is interested in joining.

YPedia.com

I have been scared by this company as well. They have harassed me through mail and email and were very rood when I actually reached a human on their phone number. They are threatening me stating that they are sending me to collections. I have perfect credit and im a very low budget small business owner. I don't make a lot and to threaten me with bogus bills and collections is just wrong. These people are horrible and need to pay for what they are doing. I would definitely be intersted in joining in a class action law suit. Let me know what I can do to participate. I saved most of their letters and email communications.

Thanks, Jamie

GET OUT OF THE SCAM

Unfortunately this "legitimate" business beguiles the consumer into signing where the line states free. It is a disgusting marketing technique these "humans...people??" use to trick you into signing for a service YOU THINK is for the YP, YELLOW PAGES.. Not YP, YPedia. These fiends even go further to use a similar logo to Yellow Pages. I asked the gentleman named Melvin if he went to school for marketing. He said yes, I then proceeded to ask him what the point is in putting Free under the website address and phone number change. He then told me it was not his fault more or less we did not read the fine print. I then proceeded to ask again, what was the point in attempting to trick someone into signing?? They don't want you to take the time to look it over. They make a KILLING fooling people. Lesson learned. If I could warn anyone else, I will make it one of my many goals in life. Always remember to read every . " and word. Attention to detail folks. Got us too.

For the last 6 months we've been harassed by a company false representing themselves as yellow pages united. After extensive research and a case with the BBB we were finally able to conclude this was not a real company. Although the phone calls continue, with a man named Rick Moses demanding money from us. Telling us that we owe them and we have to "grow up and pay up now". We've filed a report with the FCC and another one with the BBB. The original case with the BBB was closed bc once they sent out information to the company... the mail was returned to the BBB and they shut down they're website. This is not a real company and any other businesses that are contacted by these people or this person in particular should be aware. Ideally we would love if this guy got thrown in jail because he most certainly deserves it.

  • May 14, 2015

This is a one person scam company. They market themselves as a Yellow Pages Company, when in fact they have NOTHING to do with Yellow Pages. Even on their billing statement it looks very much like Yellow Pages and when contacted by them, they say they are from Yellow Pages which seems to be fraud. What they do is post your company name on their own website (YPedia.com) which will never be found by any search of your product. I tried to locate my business by doing a number of GOOGLE searches and using the "keywords" for my product and nothing could be found.

I also did a search via SPYFU.com and found 3 actual clients of YPedia who had ZERO clicks for their services. They do nothing to make your company visible via Yellow Pages advertising. Therefore, what they bill for is NOT what they are saying they represent or the service they will provide. Although I am only an internet company, they posted a picture of my HOUSE and my home address which was totally against my wishes.

We purchased our business in very late December, a few short weeks later Ypedia.com sent our company a letter posing to be a real company asking us to verify our address. No where on the letter did it have any kind of contract statement, monetary obligation, etc. It simply asked us to verify our address to make sure it was correct. All that was required was a signature. We signed in a hurry and sent it back.

After a couple wekks passed we started receiving calls telling us that we now owed them $361.94 for sending them the letter back and to use their services. We told them we were not paying that, and that we did not agree to any kind of monetary obligation. The man I talked to was very rude and threatened us with legal action. I promptly told him that the next time I hear from his company it should be a lawyer. I then proceeded to call the nmber back that showed up on our caller ID and it went to a Medical Billing company. I asked if they ahd ever heard of the man I had spoke with and explained my situation. The lady I talked with on the phone told me her company did not do that and was very apologetic that this was happeneing.

Fast forward 3 more weeks, and we receive another letter in the mail giving us a copy of the original letter and signature. On this letter it clearly states there is no monetary obligation and the company does not even work directly with Yellow Pages (although they were using a very similar logo). We ignored this idle threat and moved on our way. Today (May 8, 2015) we received another call. This time from a man going by the name Jason Sanford, saying he works for "Davis and Jones Collection Agency" (yet another fake company). I asked him to give me a contact number and physical address for the company he worked for, as well as a number (855-836-8914), again a fake number. Upon looking it up and doing research, there is no company in Fort Worth by that name, nor at the address (which is a completely different company, and doesn't even have a suite number that I was given). I told "Jason" that I was not going to pay for this, and that this was all a scam. He asked me what exactly was a scam, then asked again if I was going to pay. I told him...No. This is a scam and beware for all the companies out there hat may be going through this same problem. Hopefully a bigger agency can get involved and take this company down.

Make Ypedia GO AWAY! Please read

PLEASE READ...I too had to deal with these lowlifes. But, I have a solution! Of course, I am not going to give my name or company name, so those idiots don't catch on to my trick.

Step 1: If you made the honest mistake of signing the "verification form" and sending it back...don't panic! Don't even worry...just go on with your life knowing there is NOTHING these little devils can do to hurt you, your business, or your credit.

NOTE: Their "collections" company is just another person that works for Yellow Pages Online Services. They are total BS and will never actually press legal action, because that would expose their scam. (ALL bark, NO bite)

Step 2: (The fun part!) Now it's your chance to give a dose of BS right back to them...when they call and say you own $360, just say, "Oh, yeah! We called and cancelled our subscription well within the 15 day cancellation period. Thanks for calling, but we aren't interested, so we cancelled it right away!" (Say with a happy tone and with certainty.) The best part...this is using their OWN fine print against them...it says you have 15 days to CALL or email your cancellation of the service.

They don't keep notes or records on accounts, because that would just be more evidence against them when they do get sued and shut down by the local AG. Trust me, these guys will get shut down, just like the scammers in Canada and Florida. And those guys went to JAIL! YaY!

Remember to say you CALLED in the cancellation...not emailed. This way, there is no paper trail to dispute.

Step 3: They will ask questions like: "Who did you speak with..." "Did you receive a cancellation number?"

This is where it gets FUN! See, they won't give you a name or employee number when you deal with them, they won't send a confirmation of cancellation like a normal business, they DON'T want a paper trail!!!

No Paper Trail...no evidence. They have no way to confirm you did or didn't call to cancel.

Who did you speak with? Just say, "I don't know, he wouldn't give me his name."

Do you have a confirmation number or email that it was cancelled? "Nope! He wouldn't give me a confirmation number and never sent me the cancellation email confirmation I requested."

Again...because they are a scam, they won't argue these points with you...because to them it sounds JUST like something they would say or do...I love using their own tricks against them.

I promise this works! If they call back, just use the exact same lines...

They left me alone after only 2 calls! Never heard from them again. I WIN!!!

Like so many others, I received a mail in the listing from the yellow pages online services to verify my business citation listing. The letter states in big capital letters that it is not a bill. Come a few weeks later I receive a bill from them for $329!

This company is a scam, they deceive you into thinking they are the normal yellow pages, and trick you into thinking you're doing something for free, only to charge you for it. Then they start harrassing you with calls, emails, and threats to collect their debt.

Don't give these scumbags any money, and throw out their sheet if you get it in the mail.

We are another small business who are victim of ypedia online scam They market themselves as yello pages online services, po box 630445, irving, tx 75063

1st - they send you info about adding business name. That paper clearly says that it is not a bill but it has fine print that our business will be charged $329.

2nd - they send you a bill few days past one month so automatically comes in as past due. When our staff called them, they said you are already past due and we will send it to collection. Their staff is extremely rude Malvin sando ext 733) and they don't want to explain anything. At that time, they said we can do a settlement and charged us $260 to not to go to collection. Just to talke care of the situation, our staff agreed to pay.

3rd - as an owner, i thought something is suspicioius. I called several times. They refused to give me an owner name. As i asked more questions, they just hung up. This happened 4-5 times. I insisted to ask manager or owner and they refuse to provide any other name. They basically say that terms and conditions are clear. I explained that it is not standard business practice to hide the cost in the tiny fine print. They know that most medical practices are very busy so they don't have time to fight back so they take full advantage.

4th - i asked them to fax me all the details. That fax listed another name jose g. As manager of customer service & account development.

5th - i told them that their practices are misleading and fraud and will file a complaint with bbb.

Be careful as lots of small businesses are targeted by ypedia.

  • Mar 13, 2015

I recieved an invoice for $361.90 for advertising services from Yello Pages Online Services. I called the company and Malvin ansered the phone. After I told them it must have been a misstake, because if I had known that this was a paid service I would have never signed up. He told me that it's in the Terms & Conditions section and I should have read that before signing the form. After closely checking all the records, yes there were terms and conditions but they were at the bottom n very tiny text, #2 stating the fee. I was blown away, because of course I missed that little detail, that was so conviniently hidden. So, long story short, I asked Mevin to please close my account, and I will not be paying for the service. I wanted the service to be stoped imediatly. He told me that he will file the request, but it will go to a collection lawyer, because he wants his money. Any good company costumer service would of course understand and would not charge for the service that the person did not intend to have, but this is not an ordinarry company. It's a one man band. Malvin is running the show. Watch out people. It's a scam.

Ypedia, Yellow Page Services and David and Jones are all one company that tries to make you believe you signed a form updating your business listing. Then you receive an invoice for hundreds of dollars. When you don't pay it davis and jones steps in.....

I googled their address and found a janatorial service there, I hit redial and received a nursing home which they blamed on their switchboard. I'm sorry but switchboards do not use someone else's number like a nursing home. Well obviously i was suspicious....I called the Attorney General's office in Texas with their address and info and they said that David and Jones is NOT located in Texas, this is a fraud, do not pay it and when i mentionned they had an account number for me the woman vehemently said "you do not have an account with this company, it is a fraud, and do not pay them anything." Just to top it off i called them after hours and the voicemail says "you have reached the general mailbox please leave a message". Any legitimate business would say someting like "You have reached Davis and Jones, leave a message and we will call you back during regular business hours".

I have also filed a report with the FTC and BBB. Please do not feel threatened to pay them and if there is anyway to contact me for more information on how to deal with them, please free. Also the FTC and Attorney General will both tell you not to pay them.

  • Feb 4, 2015

So my story is like all the others here. I'm sent a letter saying it's not a bill and to update my listing. I thought this was for the REAL yellow pages, not this piece of SH** company. Like everyone else I'm sent a bill after I send back my "updated listing" for $361.90.

I call and compain and am told oh we can stop your service after 6 months of whenever but we can't cancel it now since you agreed to the terms and conditions.

I'm telling my bank this is fraud so the charges will be refunded.

Pretty much the same as all of the rest of the reviews for this company. We received a letter that was marked urgent; labeled NOT A BILL; and asking to verify that the correct information for our business was listed. It was incorrect (I'm sure it always is), so we changed it and sent it back to the listed address. Like everybody else, we thought this was for the real yellowpages. Lesson learned.

We then received a bill stating that we signed up for a verified listing. We ignored it since it was from a company we had not heard of and it looked more like junk mail than anything else. We then started getting emails stating that the account would be sent to collections if we did not pay the bill. We ignored these as well.

The most recent correspondence is from someone named Christopher Pauda. He claims that he represents Ypedia, LLC and we should pay before they notify the credit bureaus and hurt our credit. I've seen on the internet that other people have received the exact same email (verbatim), but with a different person sending the email. We could not find any information about this firm, Davis & Jones, or the person that sent the email. He does not appear to be liccensed as an attorney and the business address is a UPS store.

Don't fall for this scam. We will not be paying; they can take us to court and try to convince a Judge that this is a legitimate contract. We have reported to the IL attorney general, TX attorney general, BBB, & FTC.

  • Jan 2, 2015

This company scams small business owners in believing they are a part of yellow pages then takes your money puts you on a 6 months contract and they threaten you with their attorneys and sending you to collections if you don't pay. They need to be stopped they are fraudulent and misleading.

SCAM

We own an electrical company in las vegas and we received a letter asking for payment thinking it was our account with Yellow Pages we went ahead and filled out the paperwork. These people need to be stopped we all have to come together and fill a compliant with the Attorney Generals Office and also with the BBB. It is sad that they are doing this to people and taking there money. We are also stuck in a contract for 6 months for something we didn't want. They are desperate and have no ethics. I hope this get resolved and somehow they can no longer do this to people.

  • Dec 11, 2014

I just opened a new office location. I received a letter stating that yellow pages online JUST wanted to verify our information. On the letter it said that it was an urgent letter and a final notice and that we must reply immediately. Also, it said that it is not a bill. Anyone who opens an office knows how stressful it can be. I get a lot of phone calls and letters from different companies that want to verify our new address and phone numbers and other information. And so when I looked at the letter from ypedia or as it says on it yellow pages online and saw the logo of yellow pages I signed the letter and sent it back. A week has gone by and I received a BILL of $329.

I called the toll free number indicated in the bill and I asked to cancel everything because I never asked to have the service. He answered me that he can cancel my service (for the future..) but I have to pay for the current bill.

This scam site is horrid, deceptive and filled with lies. As soon as you see the envelope with Yellow Pages Online Services from Irving,TX immediately place it in the trash. If push comes to shove I will gladly go to court over this scam.

  • Nov 13, 2014

As a new and small business, we recieved a letter from Ypedia, LLC. It purposefully disguised itself as the offical Yellow Pages company by using the same logo and writing "Yellow Pages Online Services" at the top of the letter. The letter offered a "free" listing of our company on the yellow pages website. We filled out the form and returned it to Ypedia thinking that the listing was free of charge, but in the terms and condition hid a $298 charge for the listing. We were not aware of this because Ypedia decptively advertised its services as free.

Couple of months later, Barnaby and Wolfe Inc contacted us to collect $361 for the price of the listing and late fees. We were completely surprised because we thought the listing was free. Not only was it not free, but it wasn't even the offical yellow pages company! Barnaby and Wolfe is saying that it is collecting the money on behalf of Ypedia and that they are willing to settle for a smaller amount if I pay up as soon as possible. We are not going to pay any of it, and we are going to fight this scam. I have already made a complaint with my state's Office of Consumer Protection. I am going to contact Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau, and any other institution that will shut down this horrible company. It is a complete scam and is tricking people to give up their hard earned money. I urge everybody not to pay this company and not to fall for its deceptive advertising.

SCAM

I appreciate all those that have posted previously about YPedia. It is DEFINITELY A SCAM. I have been handling marketing and advertising for our company for 14 years. I know that there are only two legitimate and reliable 'yellow pages' companies to do business with and that is what I stick to. I read the 'fine print' on anything I put my signature on and I got nothing from YPedia. Maybe the fine print is actually 'invisible print' and or you have to have a black light or something to see it.

YPedia's 'attorney' is trying to collect over $400 from our company. (His letter to us is included below)

One last note, I looked at the YPedia site and our company is not listed under any of the 6 categories they claim that we have advertised under and expect payment for. What a joke.

ypedia and David and Jones......

Yes I received the same letter from David and Jones. Calling on the behalf of Ypedia or Yellow Page Services. I also received a phone call. When I called them back on the number from my phone it went to nursing home lol. I then called the Attorney General's office in Texas where they are based and when i mentioned something about ypedia trying to collect on my account. The woman said" You do not have an account with them, they are a fraud, do not pay them". She also said david and Jones does not have a business or phone number at the address provided from Jason Sanford at David and Jones. So to sum it up don't let them get a penny of your money!!!!!!!
